本刊是我國乃至亞洲唯一專門登載古脊椎動(dòng)物學(xué)及相關(guān)領(lǐng)域研究論文的學(xué)術(shù)期刊，是國際同類期刊中歷史最悠久的，編委會(huì)成員均為國內(nèi)外古脊椎動(dòng)物學(xué)研究領(lǐng)域的知名專家學(xué)者。本刊登載內(nèi)容涵蓋與古脊椎動(dòng)物學(xué)有關(guān)的所有領(lǐng)域，諸好古脊椎動(dòng)物各門類及人類起源與進(jìn)化系統(tǒng)分類、形態(tài)功能、同位素測年、生物地層與地質(zhì)年代、古生態(tài)、古環(huán)境、古生物地理、脊椎動(dòng)物化石收集及研究的有關(guān)方法，也包括對(duì)古脊椎動(dòng)物學(xué)文獻(xiàn)的再研究。
