該設(shè)計(jì)競賽方案由五組雙曲拋物面屋頂結(jié)構(gòu)組成，由此接出的平臺折板屋頂向外挑出遮蓋行人入口。這種設(shè)計(jì)手法不僅加大了室內(nèi)的高度，減少了邊角，同時(shí)與位于中心和河道之間的布里斯班南部銀行公園保持流線型關(guān)系。

一條架高的鐵路限制了中心的規(guī)模，建筑師將可容納2 500人的舞廳和相關(guān)的設(shè)施懸挑在火車軌道的上方。大會議廳擁有4 000個座席，并可通過活動座椅分割成不同大小的會議空間。會議室沿三層高的前廳布置。

設(shè)計(jì)意圖要突出亞熱帶地區(qū)的特點(diǎn)并建成一座與其他會展中心完全不同的建筑。

In association with Peddle Thorp ArchitectsThis project was designed in competition. Its form derives form a series of five hyperbolic/parabolic roofs from which large folded plate verandah roofs are extended to protect pedestrian access ways. These design elements were created to provide high internal volumes, low-scaled edges and a fluid relationship with Brisbane‘s South Bank Gardens lying between the building and riverfront. Design constraints included an elevated railway and a constricted site area. These constraints are overcome by extending a large plaza out over the railway area on which some building components are located, principally a ballroom accommodating 2,500 guests. The convention hall supports 4,000 delegates and can be subdivided, with flexibility of use facilitated by raisable seating. Meeting rooms surround a three-level atrium space giving visibility between lower levels and railway plaza. The design philosophy was evolved to produced a subtropical image and an identity different from previous centres.
