One day, when a young boy was walking along the road, he saw a penny (美分) on the ground. He picked it up happily and put it into his pocket. The penny was his, and it cost (花費) him nothing!
From that day on (從那天開始), wherever (無論在哪里) he walked, he kept his head down. He looked at the ground for more pennies. Of course, during his lifetime, he found more money.
In fact, by the end of his life he had found $ 12.82 altogether(總共). He kept the money safely and he was really very happy that the money had cost him nothing.
Did it really cost him nothing? During the time he was looking for the money, he had missed (錯過) seeing the beauty (美景) of 35, 127 sunsets (日落), 327 wonderful rainbows (彩虹), the white clouds in the blue sky, birds flying among the trees in the forests he walked through and the beautiful yellow and red leaves in autumn. What he had got—all $ 12.82—certainly(當(dāng)然)wasnt worth (值) as much as (和……一樣多) what he had missed.
