Time for action

Looking ahead at Malawian President Bingu Wa Mutharika's 12-month tenure as head of the African Union (AU) there is much on deck that needs attention. And almost all the chal-lenges facing the continent's premier organization revolve around ICT, or the lack thereof This was clearly borne out in the recent Addis Ababa based 14th Summit's theme of"Information and Communication Technologies in Africa: Challenges and Prospects for Development;' where President Mutharika acknowledged that ICTs should be taken very seriously in the development agenda of the AU.
