Luban(507 BC-444 BC),surnamed Gongshu,given named Ban,was a person of the State of Lu.He was an outstanding ancient inventor.魯班（公元前507年至公元前444年），姓公輸，名班，魯國人，是我國古代出色的發(fā)明家。

Luban learned civil and architectural engineering with his family at a young age.He gradually acquired the skill of productive labor and accumulated much practical experience.The name of Luban and his stories spread widely among the public.And construction craftsmen all respectfully call him Patriarch.魯班從小就跟隨家里人學(xué)習(xí)了土木建筑的知識(shí)，逐漸掌握了生產(chǎn)勞動(dòng)的技能，積累了豐富的實(shí)踐經(jīng)驗(yàn)。魯班的名字和他的故事一直流傳于民間。我國土木工匠們都尊稱他為祖師。

At the turn from the Spring and Autumn Period to the Warring States Period,craftsmen got many opportunities to practice their talents due to social changes.Against this background,Luban initiated many inventions in machinery,construction,and artisan craftsmanship.It is said that saw,drill,plane,shovel,and ink marker are all invented by Luban.春秋戰(zhàn)國之交，社會(huì)動(dòng)蕩使工匠獲得了施展才能的機(jī)會(huì)。在這一背景下，魯班在機(jī)械、土木、手工工藝等方面都有所發(fā)明。據(jù)傳說，鋸、鉆、刨子及曲尺，劃線用的墨斗，都是魯班發(fā)明的。
