“公共禁忌”指的是在公共場所不允許或不應(yīng)該做的事情。由于政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)、歷史、宗教、語言、人文習(xí)俗等方面的差異,世界各國對“公共禁忌”的規(guī)定也有所不同,有些規(guī)定還真的聞所未聞,令人夷匪所思。
1. Canada
When shopping in the mall, you are not allowed (允許) to check out with all the coins. The Currency Act passed in 1985 announced: Goods worth of $10 were not allowed to buy with only coins; while goods worth of more than $20 were not allowed to check out with all the $1 bills. Since then this rule has been used.

在商場購物時不允許全部用硬幣結(jié)賬。加拿大在1985年通過的貨幣法案規(guī)定:價值10美元的商品不允許全部用硬幣購買;價值20美元以上的商品不允許全部用1美元結(jié)賬。自那時起該規(guī)定一直沿用至今。
2. Singapore
Chewing gum is prohibited (禁止). Since 1992, importing, making or selling chewing gum have been banned. Until 2004, the government allowed pharmacies(藥店) to sell nicotine gum (尼古丁口香糖), but the consumers have to register their personal information when they buy it. In addition, people who spit or throw rubbish everywhere in public places will be fined of 300 Singapore dollars, while those who were repeatedly fined are subject to heavier penalties (處罰), such as imprisonment (監(jiān)禁) for 12 hours, or sweeping the street in a red vest with words“I am a dustbin” on it .
2. 新加坡
禁止吃口香糖。自1992年起,新加坡就禁止進(jìn)口、制造或銷售口香糖。直到2004年政府才允許藥店出售尼古丁口香糖,但消費(fèi)者在購買時必須登記個人信息。此外,在公共場所亂吐亂丟者要罰款300新加坡元,而屢教不改者將受到更重的處罰,比如罰12小時的監(jiān)禁,還要穿著印有“我是垃圾桶”字樣的紅背心到大街上去掃地。
3. Thailand
Driving with upper body naked (裸體) is illegal (不合法的). Dont lose your patience because of this tropical (熱帶的) countrys hot climate. If you drive a car or motorcycle with upper body naked and come across the police, you are supposed to be fined undoubtedly. In addition, leaving home without underclothes is illegal. You mustnt step on Thai Baht (泰銖).

光著上身開車是違法的。不要因?yàn)檫@個熱帶國家的炎熱氣候而失去耐性,如果你赤裸著上身駕駛汽車或摩托車被警察逮住的話,那必定要吃罰單了。此外,不穿內(nèi)衣就離家是違法的。你也不能用腳去踩泰銖。
4. Switzerland
In an apartment building, flushing (沖刷) the toilet after ten oclock in the evening is banned and men are not allowed to pee (小便) while standing up, either. The Swiss government believes that, compared with olfactory (嗅覺) pollution, noise pollution is much more significant,which should be prohibited by official order.

在公寓里, 晚上10點(diǎn)以后禁止用水沖馬桶。男人不準(zhǔn)在晚上10點(diǎn)以后站著小便。瑞士政府認(rèn)為,和嗅覺污染相比,噪音污染對社會影響更大, 應(yīng)當(dāng)明令禁止。
5. Kenya
If you travel in Kenya prairie (大草原), sometimes the guide may suddenly take off all his clothes and go swaggeringly (大搖大擺地) towards the wild animals. Seeing this scene, you never follow the guide. For Kenyans, this practice is legal, they can be naked and go about in the Massa Mara prairie, but if the foreigners do so, it is illegal.
5. 肯尼亞
如果你在肯尼亞的大草原上旅行,有時導(dǎo)游可能會突然全身脫光,大搖大擺地朝野生動物們走去。見此情景時,你千萬不要模仿。對肯尼亞人來說,這種做法是合法的,他們可以全身赤裸在馬賽馬拉大草原上游蕩,但是如果外國人這么做,那就是違法了。
6. The United Arab Emirates
If travelling in the UAE during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, just in the fasting time (禁食時間) of a day, people who eat any food or drink anything in public will be fined. In addition, it is not tolerant for any intimacy (親昵行為) in public places. If a couple of unmarried man and woman sit alone in a car with colored glass, perhaps they will result in a big trouble for themselves.
6. 阿聯(lián)酋
如果你在穆斯林齋月期間到阿聯(lián)酋旅游的話,白天禁食時間在公共場合的任何吃喝行為都會被處以罰款的。此外,該國對在公開場合的親昵行為是不會寬容的。若一對未婚男女單獨(dú)坐在鑲有有色玻璃的汽車內(nèi),他們可能會惹來大麻煩。
7. The United States of America
In New York, opening or closing your umbrella next to horses is banned. In Saint Louis, sitting on the city streets to drink beer is not allowed. But in Chicago, in whichever corners of the city, as long as you stand to drink, the police can arrest you. In Kansas, Topeka City, it is not allowed to use a cup to hold wine. In Cleveland, drinking whisky in bottle is not allowed. In Kentucky, those who throw eggs or tomatoes to the lecturer in public are supposed to be in prison for one year. In Indiana, people who have eaten garlic (大蒜) are allowed to ride the tram (有軌電車) or go to the cinema four hours later.

8. Denmark
When driving, you must let your cars headlights on, either at night or even in the daytime; otherwise, you will face a fine of more than $100.

11. Holland
A loud call is not allowed on the train. Passengers should go to the special room between the two train carriages for it. The train has no-call carriages and call-service carriages, and a phone call is not allowed strictly in no-call carriages. People who call in them will be fined of 55 euro. Even in the call-service carriages, you must do it with great care, in order to avoid being given despised(輕視的) look. There is a clear sign on each bus prohibiting the use of mobile phone. If passengers use a mobile phone, they will be fined of 80-100 euro each time. When traveling on the freeway, the driver mustnt use available mobile phone to make a telephone call, if the driver must want to call, he / she has to wear a headset(耳機(jī)), or he / she will be subject to heavy penalties, even being revoked (吊銷) the driving license.
11. 荷蘭
在列車上不允許大聲打電話,乘客應(yīng)到車廂相接處的專用隔離室打。列車上分為安靜車廂和可打電話車廂,安靜車廂絕對不允許打電話,否則罰款55歐元。即使在可打電話車廂,你也得小心翼翼地打,以免遭人白眼。公交車上有明顯的嚴(yán)禁使用手機(jī)的標(biāo)志,乘客若不遵守,一次要罰款80到100歐元。在高速公路上行駛時,司機(jī)不可用手機(jī)接打電話,想打電話時必須佩戴耳機(jī),否則會被重罰甚至?xí)坏蹁N駕照。
12. Germany
When driving, the driver must wear the safety belt, so do the passengers. If the passengers without safety belts are caught by the traffic police, both the passengers and the driver will be fined. If a new-born baby is to be brought home from the hospital, the car must be installed(安裝) with babys special lying chairs. Even though its your own new-born baby, you cant take it away, either. An adult holding a new-born baby in a running vehicle is considered to be dangerous. If you want to ride a bicycle, you must pass the rides training and examination smoothly. Vehicle retrograding (逆行) will be fined; drunk-riding will face high fines, or even be revoked bicycle riders license.
12. 德國
行車時,司機(jī)必須系安全帶,乘客也是如此。如果乘客不系安全帶被交警逮住, 乘客和司機(jī)都要受罰。要想把新生兒從醫(yī)院帶回家,車?yán)锉仨毎惭b專用嬰兒躺式座椅,否則即使是你自己的孩子也不能從醫(yī)院帶走。成人抱著嬰兒坐車被視為危險之舉。如果你想騎自行車,必須經(jīng)過培訓(xùn)和考試合格后方可。逆行騎車將被罰款;酒后騎自行車將面臨高額罰款,甚至?xí)坏蹁N自行車駕照。
