Money and Success

1.Twospirits1live in the mountain.One day,they argue with each other.The blue-bearded spirit says,“Money means everything.Nothing succeeds without money.”

山上住著兩個小精靈。有一天，他們發(fā)生了爭執(zhí)。藍(lán)胡子精靈說：“世上有了金錢就有了一切，沒有金錢什么事都不會成功的?！?/p>

2.The red-bearded spirit says,“No,money comes after success.If you don’t believe me,let’s make abet2.”They meet a poor man.The blue-bearded spirit gives him fifty gold coins and asks him to buy success.

紅胡子精靈說：“不對，只有事情成功了才會有錢。你若不信，我們來打賭?！彼麄冇龅揭粋€窮漢，藍(lán)胡子精靈給了他五十金幣，叫他去買“成功”。

3.The poor man leaves with the money.On the way he meets a woman.The woman says,“Buy success with the money?It would be better to buy astring3of beeflungs4for your children.”The poor man thinks it right. He buys a string of beef lungs,puts the rest coins in his cap and walks towards home.

窮漢拿著錢走了，半路上碰到一位婦女，婦女說：“用錢買‘成功’嗎？還不如買掛牛肺給孩子們吃呢！”窮漢覺得有理，買了一掛牛肺，把其余的金幣藏在帽子里，往家走去。

4.Suddenly,a crow flies over.The poor man hurriedly hides the beef lungs in his clothes.But the crow runs away with the cap in its mouth.The poor man runs after the crow.But now a dog jumps up,andgrabs5away the beef lungs in the clothes.

忽然，飛來一只烏鴉，窮漢急忙把牛肺藏在衣服里，誰知烏鴉叼走了帽子。窮漢追趕烏鴉，不料一條狗竄上來，把衣服里的牛肺搶走了。

5.The poor man gets nothing.He arrives homedejectedly6and still lives a poor life.The two spirits come again.The red-bearded spirit says to the poor man,“My success falls into the river.Pull it out for me,please.OK?”

窮漢什么也沒得到，垂頭喪氣地回了家，依舊過他的窮日子。兩個小精靈又來了。紅胡子精靈對窮漢說：“我的‘成功’掉在河里，請你幫我撈上來，好嗎？”

6.The poor man comes to the river.He thinks hard for a long time,and then has got a good idea.He works as anemployee7in a shop. After he makes some money,he buys some net ropes and goes back home toweave8the fishing net.

窮漢來到河邊，想了很久，想出了一個打撈“成功”的辦法。他到鋪?zhàn)永锂?dāng)雇工，掙了錢后，買了一些網(wǎng)繩，回家編織魚網(wǎng)。

7.He goes to the river andcasts9the fishing net.Nine days passes,but he doesn’t get success.

魚網(wǎng)織好了，他到河邊去撒網(wǎng)。一連撒了九天，也沒撈到“成功”。

8.His skill of casting nets becomes better and better.On the tenth day,he gets a little gold fish.

他撒網(wǎng)的技術(shù)越來越好。第十天他拉起網(wǎng)一看，撈到一條小金魚。

9.He takes the fish home and cuts its open.Ah,a brilliantgem10is in the stomach of the fish.

他把小金魚拿回家，剖開魚肚子一看，哈，里面有塊亮閃閃的寶石。

10.He goes on fishing,and has more and more money.He builds a house.One day, the king passes by and meets him.

他繼續(xù)打魚，漸漸有了錢，蓋起了房子。一天，國王經(jīng)過這里，遇到了他。

11.He shows the gem to the king.The king takes the gem andawards11a big piece of land to him.

他把寶石給國王看。國王拿走寶石，把一大片土地賞給了他。

12.The poor man becomes successful by his own labour.The blue-bearded spirit has toadmit12the red-bearded spirit’s words are right.

窮漢靠自己的勞動取得了成功。藍(lán)胡子精靈只好承認(rèn)紅胡子精靈的話是對的。
