Where to go on holiday in June

June is one of the best months of the year to take a holiday. The weather in the Mediterranean is at its best， with long sunny days， warm seas and gentle breezes. The heat of July and August has yet to come.

One of the best ways to enjoy the “Med” is in your own rented house， many of which have personal pools. We particularly like Catalonia for fishing villages， pretty mountains and Greek islands.

North Cyprus is a great value， as its outside the Eurozone. It is home to some excellent hotels including the Pia Bella near Kyrenia.

If you want beautiful sandy beaches， head to Spains Costa de la Luz or the French island of Corsica. The Balaerics may be best known for its cheap price but they are also wonderful islands for villa holidays， particularly Mallorca and Ibiza.

To have a easy time in the countryside and have a truly local experience， head to Le Marche， an area of Italy all too often overlooked by travelers. Also in Italy， the Amalfi Coast has some excellent hotels， particularly in Sorrento.

We heartily recommend the Sani Resort on a beautiful beach on mainland Greece， while Crete also has some beautiful houses to rent and great hotels including the stylish modern Daios Cove. The Aegean Coast of Turkey has many great boutique hotels.

The Italian islands of Sicily and Sardinia have great beaches. We like Forte Village Resort in Sardinia， which is great for families and sporty couples， and Sir Rocco Fortes Verdura Golf & Spa Resort in Sicily.

Mallorca is at its best in June， before all the travelers visit. This is a great time to visit the capital， Palma. Stay at the beautiful Castillo Hotel Son Vida. If money is not a problem， spend some nights in a staffed house from Scott Dunn.

Although not in the “Med”， the Italian lakes do have great beaches along with great mountain views and are particularly good in June.
