有一個(gè)小孩叫Harry，他住在一個(gè)山洞里。Harry是個(gè)小小發(fā)明家。他的鄰居Chief Grump性情古怪，看什么都不順眼。Harry送給他一件禮物，讓他很開心，一起看一下到底是怎樣的一件禮物呢？

1. Hi！ My name is Harry. I live with my family in this cave. I like to make new things.

大家好，我叫Harry。我們一家住在這個(gè)洞穴里。我喜歡發(fā)明新東西。

2. This is Chief Grump. He is always mad about something. Tomorrow is his birthday. Maybe my present can make him happy. Wow！ I have never seen anything like it！

這是Chief Grump。他經(jīng)常發(fā)火。明天是他的生日。大概我的禮物會(huì)讓他開心吧。哇！我從沒見過這么棒的禮物。

3. Its time for Chief Grumps party. He gets lots of presents. A rock， some wood， a fish and a bone. Chief Grump says， “I do not want these！” He throws them down the hill.

Chief Grump生日宴會(huì)的時(shí)間到了。他收到了很多禮物：一塊石頭，一些木頭，一條魚和一根骨頭。他說：“我不想要什么生日宴！”他把所有的東西扔下了山。

4. Now Chief Grump opens my present. “What does it do？” Everyone looks at my new thing. But no one can guess what it does. Not even me.

然后Chief Grump打開了我的禮物。“這是用來干嘛的？”所有人都看著我的新發(fā)明。但是沒人能猜出這是個(gè)什么東西。就連我自己也不知道。

5. Chief Grump says， “It does not do anything！” He kicks it down the hill. Hey！ Now I know what this new thing does. It rolls！

Chief Grump說：“它什么用處也沒有！”他把它踢下了山。嗨！我終于知道這個(gè)新發(fā)明的用處了。它可以滾！

6. I take it back. I put something here. I add something there. Maybe Chief Grump will like it now. I tell him， “Sit here. Put your feet there.” I give him a push.

我把它拿回來。我在這里加點(diǎn)東西，那里添點(diǎn)零件?？赡蹸hief Grump現(xiàn)在就會(huì)喜歡它了。我告訴他說：“請(qǐng)坐。把你的腳放在上面。”我推了他一下。

7. Look！ I make something really new. And I make Chief Grump smile！

瞧！我真的發(fā)明了新玩意。我讓Chief Grump笑了。
