Speed Logic
By Jiang Ruxiang
W hen I was interviewed in Motorola,my boss said to me,“You have been engaged in academic research for years and got a doctor’s degree in Beijing U-niversity;meanwhileyoupublished manybooksanddidresearchon macro-economy,so could you explain thedifferencebetweenscholarsand businessmen?”
My answer was quite satisfactory to him.I said,“Scholars do research in a large scale, yet they come to a small conclusion. In contrast, businessmen do research within a mall scale but come up with many or big conclusions. For instance,if Motorola is to investigate its user growth rate, the research company may only make surveys on 1200 people who would represent the whole Chinese market.”
This is what business is like.It has nothing to do with logical derivation that you have to wait until everything is correct.Actually, business is to act just about ready.During the executive process, speed matters most.Speed logic has two meanings:action before conclusion(let some people get rich first),action corrects conclusion(development rectifies itself).
