（The door opened.）Hello！ Im the new governess，Captain.

Max：And Im the butler（管家）.

Maria：Oh，well，how do you do？

Max：Please wait here. I will call the captain.

Captain：Why do you stare at me？

Maria：You dont look like a captain.

Captain：Im afraid you dont look like a governess！ Well，madam ...

Maria：Maria.

Captain：OK，Maria. You are the twelfth governess to look after my children since their mother died. I think you will be better than the last one. She stayed only two hours.

Maria：Whats wrong with the children，sir？

Captain：Nothing is wrong with the children，only the governesses. OK！ Maria，I hope you will be strict with the children as I do.

Maria：Yes，sir.

Captain：This is the signal.

（Captain whistled. Seven children came out and stood in a line. ）

Captain：Everybody！ This is your new governess，Maria. Now say your name one by one.

Eldest Daughter：Lisa.

Eldest Son：Nick.

Second Daughter：Kelly.

Second Son：Bill.

Third Daughter：Daisy.

Third Son：Kurt.

（The Youngest daughter stood out but didnt say anything.）

Captain：Emily.

Captain：Now lets see how well you use the whistle.

Maria：I dont need a whistle，Captain. I will use their names.

Captain：This is a large house. I dont want to have any shouting.

Maria：But sir，whistle is for animals，not for children！

Captain：Up to you！

Maria：At ease. Well，now there are just us. Would you please tell me your names again，and how old you are？

Lisa：Im Lisa. Im 16 years old，and I dont need a governess！

Maria：Im glad you told me，Lisa. We will just be good friends.

Nick：Im Nick. Im 14. I am impossible！

Maria：Really？ Who told you that，Nick？

Nick：The last governess.
