A horse is a horse, of course. Unless he’s Deva, the piano-playing horse.
In the hills of western Sullivan County, after Deva1)ambles over to the piano, he uses his tongue and lips to make music from the keys.
How does he do it?
Deva’s2)dentist Finch says that many horses might get scared by the sound and shy away from the piano. But Finch is not surprised that Deva is a piano3)prodigy. Horses are smarter than many people think.
Still, Finch thinks Deva is “special” because he’s never seen another horse play the piano.
Seven years ago, after Deva’s owner found him, she began playing CDs for him. Day by day, an4)equine piano star was born.
“They’re so much more intelligent and understanding than people think,” Deva’s owner said.
