What is Diwali?
Diwali is the festival of lights. It is
India’s biggest and most important holiday of the year.
When is Diwali?

What do people do on Diwali?
Day 1: Clean homes and do some shopping.

藍(lán)果麗地畫(rangoli)
藍(lán)果麗是印度的一種傳統(tǒng)地畫藝術(shù),一般用手工繪制于家門口或廟門口。相傳很久以前,有一個(gè)王國(guó)的公主丟失了她心愛的項(xiàng)鏈,于是國(guó)王就通令全國(guó):誰找到項(xiàng)鏈就重重有賞。項(xiàng)鏈被一個(gè)樵夫找到后,送回了王宮。國(guó)王很高興,就問樵夫要什么金銀財(cái)寶。樵夫說:“我不要什么財(cái)寶,只要您下令,明天晚上除了我家之外都不準(zhǔn)點(diǎn)燈。”國(guó)王雖然覺得這個(gè)要求很奇怪,但還是答應(yīng)了下來。原來,這個(gè)晚上正是財(cái)富女神拉什米一年一度下凡的日子。當(dāng)拉什米女神來到王國(guó),只見到處一片漆黑,只有樵夫家門口點(diǎn)了盞小油燈吸引她的目光,地上用米粉畫出了個(gè)小腳印為她引路。拉什米毫不猶豫,直奔樵夫家。女神目光所到之處,財(cái)源滾滾而來。女神給樵夫一家?guī)碡?cái)運(yùn),樵夫從此過上了好日子。從此,家家效仿,畫藍(lán)果麗地畫和點(diǎn)油燈的習(xí)俗也就流傳了下來。
