Sophie is a 10-year-old orphan（孤兒） from London. It is a cool and quiet night. Sophie is lying（躺） in bed and she cant sleep. She looks out of the window. A giant（巨人） is running in the street. He carries（攜帶） a suitcase（行李箱）. Sophie is scared of（害怕） the giant with two big ears. The giant hears Sophie and runs to her window. He picks Sophie up through the window and takes Sophie to Giant Country. Many giants live there. They eat humans（人類）. The giant is unlike（不像） all the other mean（殘忍的） giants. He is friendly. He eats a strange vegetable. Sophie calls him the Big Friendly Giant（BFG）.

He is the Big Friendly Giant. He is 7.3 meters tall. He is the smallest giant in Giant Country. His ears are very big. He can hear sounds of dream（夢的聲音）.

Sophie grows up in an orphanage（孤兒院）. She is brave（勇敢的）. She asks the BFG many questions about his life and the other giants.

He is the leader（“頭兒”） of the bad giants. He is the largest giant. He is much taller than the BFG. He has a good sense of smell（嗅覺）. So he is the first bad giant to know about Sophie.

Queen Victoria is the Queen of England. She is calm（沉著冷靜的）. But she loves making jokes（開玩笑）.
