Having spent the last few months and even years perfecting[使完美] their facial hair, these men finally had the chance to show off their eye-catching efforts.
More than 300 men with nicely-shaped beards and long mustaches attended the 2014 World Beard and Moustache Championships, which took place in Portland[波特], Oregon[(美國(guó))俄勒岡州] on October 25th. Coming from nine countries, the men were judged in 18 beard and mustache groups, ranging from freestyle to best full shaped beard. Easily beating the competition with his long, dark, rough facial hair, Mr. Madison Rowley earned the title of Grand Champion[總冠軍].
Why Did the Cat Sit in the Circle?
If youve spent hours patiently trying to teach your cat to perform tricks then the latest online pet craze[狂熱] could be one for you.
Cat Circles, where cats are attracted to a simple circle, sit down in the middle of it and then refuse[拒絕] to move, are being recreated all over the world by ordinary kitties who seemingly cant pass by a circle without being irresistibly[無(wú)法抵擋地] drawn to it.
Hundreds of web users are posting pictures of their successful feats[豐功偉績(jī)], while vets[獸醫(yī)] and pet psychologists[心理學(xué)家] remain stumped[把……
Saudis[沙特阿拉伯人] Flock[蜂擁] to Visit Paralyzed[癱瘓的] Man in Hospital
After an accident left him paralyzed a year and a half ago, Ibrahim, a 24-year-old Saudi man, ended up bedridden[臥床不起的] in Hospital. Over time, visits from his family became less and less often. He sent a message on twitter, saying that he was sick in hospital alone, no money, no love, no one looking. Then the tweet quickly became popular, even popular enough to attract Saudi Prince Alwaleeds attention. Billionaire[億萬(wàn)富翁] Alwaleed published[發(fā)表] tweets saying that he would donate[捐贈(zèng)]$133,000 to Ibrahim treatment. He later visited Ibrahim, and personally handed him the money.
From there, Ibrahims popularity[名氣] exploded[爆炸], with scores of people visiting the man, often with a variety of gifts like flowers, pizza, and traditional[傳統(tǒng)的] Saudi Arabia dishes[菜肴].
