Narrator:It is warm. A mother duck lies in the straw, waiting for the birth of her children.
Mother Duck:Well,my baby, come out quickly please. I’m tired.
Suddenly,a duck egg moved. Duckling 1 opened eyes and looked at the world around him.
Duckling 1:Oh,what a beautiful world!
Then, the other three ducklings gradually came out from the eggshells, looking around, and ran over in surprise after seeing their mother.
Ducklings:Mummy! Mummy!
Duckling 4:(Pointing at the egg) Mum,look at that one!
Mother Duck:Don’t mention it. I spent too much time on it,but it still has no change.
Suddenly, with a particularly harsh cracking sound, the egg cracked. An ugly duckling slowly stretched out. Mother Duck looked at her own baby disappointedly.
Ugly Duckling:Hi,friends! Nice to meet you!
Duckling 2:Wow,her feather is gray,so ugly!
Duckling 3:Look! Her mouth is so big that she can swallow the whole pond near our home.
All:You are a real ugly duckling! We don’t like to stay with you.
Mother Duck:Ah! Why is she so ugly? She shouldn’t come into this world!
Duckling 4:Mum,let’s play games,OK?
Mother Duck:OK.
Mother Duck led the team, saying one, two, one, two ... The ugly duckling also wants to be with them, quietly following.
Ducklings:Go away! You are too ugly!
Ugly Duckling:Please let me join you.
Duckling 4:No,you can’t. We don’t want an ugly duckling here.
Suddenly, the duckling 1 accidentally fell in the game.
Ugly Duckling:I can help...
Duckling1:I don’t need your help. Go away!
Ducklings:Go away!
The ugly duckling was so sad and almost cried.
Narrator:The four ducklings are very tired and hungry. They want to eat some food.
Duckling1:Mum,I’m hungry.
Mother Duck:Oh,my baby, come here and have some milk.
Duckling 2:Don’t give that ugly duckling any food.
Mother Duck:Oh,don’t do that. She is also your sister.
Duckling 3:Our sister? Why is she so ugly?
Narrator:The poor duckling didn’t eat any food. It’s dark. The ducklings want to go home.
Duckling 1:Oh,I’m very full and tired. I want to go home to sleep.
Ducklings:Me too.
Mother Duck:OK. Let’s go.
Mother Duck led them home, saying one, two, one, two ... The ugly duckling can only follow afar.
Narrator:All the ducklings kiss their mum,and they have a good sleep. The ugly duckling stands up and tries to get close to them, but she is afraid. Finally, the poor duckling sleeps in a corner!
In the midnight, the ugly duckling woke up ...
Ugly Duckling:I’m ugly. But it’s not my fault. Mum,I’m so sorry,I have to leave. Bye,mum!
Narrator:Ugly duckling leaves alone. She is very thirsty and wants to drink some water.
Bird:It’s very hot today. Let me drink some water.
The bird flied to the pond.
Bird:Who are you?
Ugly Duckling:I’m ... I’m ... I’m a duckling.
Bird:Ah! Look at your feathers. So ugly! Go away! Don’t make the water dirty.
Narrator:Winter comes. The water becomes ice. It’s really cold. There is no one outside. The ugly duckling slips on the ice. She feels very cold and lonely. She wishes someone could help her. At last, she could not move any more.
Ugly Duckling:Oh,I’m frozen.
Farmer:Well, poor duckling. Let me help you!
Narrator:Spring comes, the flowers are blooming. Ugly duckling flies to the lake, and she sees some beautiful white swans over there. They have white feathers and slender necks. Ugly duckling wants to play with them.
Ugly Duckling:Ah! Beautiful birds, your feathers are so white, your necks are so slender. You are the most elegant birds in the world!
Swan1:Hello,my lovely friend, come and play with us!
Swans:Come on! Come on!
Ugly Duckling:You are so warm-hearted! But,don’t you feel me ugly?
Swan 2:No,you are a swan. Look at yourself!
Ugly Duckling:Oh,my god! Is this me? I’m no longer an ugly duckling. I am a petty swan!
Narrator:It is no matter to be born in a straw nest if you are a swan egg. You will be the beautiful swan one day.
