Many students feel it hard to learn new English words. Here are some tips for you.

許多學(xué)生覺得學(xué)英語(yǔ)新詞很難。這里有一些建議給你們。

★L(fēng)earn English Through Reading

Read English texts as often as you can. This could be the news， short stories or novels1， texts from your textbook or the Internet. Pick an interesting text that is not too difficult for you.

盡可能多讀英語(yǔ)文章，可以是新聞、短篇小說或長(zhǎng)篇小說，課本里的或互聯(lián)網(wǎng)上的文章。要選對(duì)你來說不太難的文章。

Dont look up every word which is new to you. Even without a dictionary you will understand a lot. Just concentrate2 on what you do understand and try to find out the rest by guessing3. That works rather well， especially4 if you are interested in the topic. If you are a football fanatic5， you probably wont have problems understanding an English text about football. But someone who is better in English than you but not interested in football will have more problems understanding the same text.

不要查每一個(gè)你不認(rèn)識(shí)的單詞，即使沒有字典你也能理解很多。只需專注于你所理解的東西，然后試著猜出其余內(nèi)容的意思。這很有效，特別是如果你對(duì)這個(gè)話題感興趣的話。如果你是一個(gè)足球迷，理解一篇關(guān)于足球的英文文章可能不會(huì)有問題，但英語(yǔ)比你好卻對(duì)足球不感興趣的人，在理解同一篇文章時(shí)會(huì)遇到更多的問題。

Do also watch the news in your native6 language and try to find English news on some of the topics. Even if you dont understand every word in the English text， you will get the message as you already know what the text is about.

Vocabulary needs to be revised7 again and again. Well， what could be better than studying vocabulary by listening to your favourite songs？

詞匯需要反復(fù)溫習(xí)。那么，有什么方法能比聽你最喜歡的歌來學(xué)習(xí)詞匯更好的呢？

Read the lyrics8 first and try to understand them. You dont have to translate9 the lyrics word by word， just try to find out what the song is all about.

先讀歌詞，再試著理解它們。你不必逐字翻譯歌詞，只要理解這首歌的大意就行了。 Pick some words or phrases from the song that you would like to learn. If necessary10， look up their exact11 meaning in a dictionary. A dictionary might also be useful to find other interesting phrases with the word.

從歌曲中挑選你想學(xué)的單詞或短語(yǔ)。如有必要，在字典里查一下它們的確切意思。字典也可能有助于找到有關(guān)這個(gè)詞其他有趣的短語(yǔ)。

Now， to learn the vocabulary， all you have to do is listening to the song again and again （that shouldnt be a problem if its one of your favourite songs）.

★L(fēng)earn English Through Movies

Pick your favourite movie—youve watched that movie many times and probably12 know all the dialogues by heart in your native language. So following the story will be easy for you.

選擇你最喜歡的電影，因?yàn)槟阋呀?jīng)看了很多遍了，很有可能在心里已經(jīng)把所有的對(duì)話譯成了中文，所以對(duì)你來說，跟上故事內(nèi)容很容易。

Have paper and pen ready as you may want to write down useful words or phrases that you what to learn. English subtitles13 might be useful for that （although they might be different from what is really about）.

準(zhǔn)備好紙和筆，因?yàn)槟憧赡芟胗浵履阆雽W(xué)的有用的單詞或短語(yǔ)。英文字幕可能會(huì)有用（盡管它們可能與實(shí)際內(nèi)容有所不同）。

If you are not used to watching movies in English， pick a only few episodes14—at the beginning it isnt easy to concentrate on listening to a foreign language for a long time.

如果你不習(xí)慣看英語(yǔ)電影，那就只選幾集吧。在開始的時(shí)候，集中精力聽很長(zhǎng)時(shí)間的外語(yǔ)是不容易的。
