      When students in our school finish their Senior 1 school life and prepare to welcome the coming new semester, they will be busy preparing for an annual activity—Yuci No. 1 Middle School Film Festival. During the course of the summer holiday between Senior 1 and Senior 2, every class will try their best to make micro films by them?selves, and then take their masterpieces into the competition usually held in October.

      In the beginning, students will choose their themes on their own, and decide what scripts they will use, what scenes they will have, and how to make their films to express their topics. There are various subjects that they can choose from, for example, campus culture, youth life, remarkable people and their special experiences and so on. Each topic is directly used to show themselves in public. Then, of course, it's time to film. Choosing the proper scenes and available time to film can be challenging, but it's necessary for directors to achieve the best results. Shooting of the film is the key to the whole film fabrication(制造), so photo?graphers need to be precise and hard?working. After all, without excellent clips, there will be no

      brilliant micro films!

      The last but the most critical step is editing your film. From proof?adding to making fitting subtitles, editing has never been as simple as you think. This process requires paying attention to lots of details, such as operating some software in order to get the optimum effect, listening to the same piece of dubbing repeatedly to correct the timeline of subtitles, and even you may face the risk of computer crashing! In the process, editors can gain their abilities by challenging themselves and stepping out of the comfort zone. They become more independent than they can imagine, and learn how to improve the technique and many other aspects of editing.

      Finally, the 16 works from 16 different classes joined the competition held in our school and were posted online. Even if the results of the game will come to an end, it is far more than winning or losing. The treasure is never only limited to the rankings, but what we have truly achieved—to broaden our horizons and search for another platform outside study and examinations to show our ability in public.

      Have you ever dreamed of making a movie? Have you had a chance to do that? Fortunately, I? got the chance!

      In the second year of high school, our school held a film festival whose theme was “The Most Beautiful Youth Struggle”. A film co?produced by our class is called Chasing the Light. It tells a story of four students who transform the rejection, blows, and setbacks from people around them into a kind of motivation with which they make great efforts to pursue their dreams. They are like light pursuers, running hard, chasing the light in front of them. This film is also aimed to inspire everyone in our class to work hard.

      Everyone was constantly challenging themselves during the whole shooting process. How to shoot the emotions of the characters, how to show the conflicts between the characters, and how to win the understanding and support of others through collaboration were all challenges we should face. Everyone in the process of participation harvested growth and happiness. During the period, I also found actors with great acting talent, very professional photographers and those good at post?production. At the same time, we came to realize that making movies is not an easy task, which requires not only the true feelings of the actors, but also the superb skills of the photographers and the perfect combination of the music and the clips. Over the course of shooting the film, we were always exploring new areas of learning.

      Even though it was our first time to make and direct a film, we all knew that we had put a lot of passion and enthusiasm into the film, and that each part was accomplished by us students. Through this activity, we feel the strength of unity and the beauty of youth struggle. No matter what the result is, the process is worth cherishing and remembering forever!

      An activity about the short English dramas kicked off in Yuqi Senior High School. The activity was meant to show students' talents for acting out fantastic English dramas, ranging from classics to modern ones.

      To begin with, students were supposed to be picked out from each class and be voted by the judges of English teachers. In addition, they had to get themselves well prepared with relevant props, costumes and PowerPoint. And those achieving the highest marks had access to the final round of the short English drama show on the stage, presenting their outstanding performances to the audience of the whole grade.

      Programs of the short English dramas, such as Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella and the like, varied from western to eastern. Each group expressed themselves fully on their own theme of the drama, witty and humorous remarks and vivid actions all bringing bursts of thunderous applause. The audience and the judges were delighted to witness the wisdom and competences of all the actors and actresses, who brought all the viewers to the fascinating performances.

      Eventually, Frank, the representative of judges, made an exciting closing speech and spoke highly of all the participants involved in the short English dramas. Meanwhile, he also announced that the first prize went to the group of Romeo and Juliet.

      Participating in the short English drama activity fueled students' enthusiasm for learning English in the long term. It was an unforgettable night for us to witness the talents and competences of our students!
