隨著新冠疫情在全球蔓延,各國(guó)都出臺(tái)了不同的應(yīng)對(duì)政策,在海外留學(xué)的中國(guó)留學(xué)生們面臨著城市封鎖、物資緊缺、無(wú)家可歸、航班熔斷等困境。在駐外使館工作人員的不懈努力下,很多留學(xué)生最終得以安全回國(guó)并與家人團(tuán)聚?;谡鎸?shí)報(bào)道,江蘇省錫山高級(jí)中學(xué)實(shí)驗(yàn)學(xué)校第二小學(xué)的同學(xué)們聚焦“疫情下留學(xué)生歸國(guó)難”的現(xiàn)實(shí),用英語(yǔ)劇生動(dòng)展現(xiàn)了中國(guó)外交人員維護(hù)中國(guó)公民正當(dāng)權(quán)益,全力保證留學(xué)生安全、健康的感人故事,并告訴我們:無(wú)論身在何處,祖國(guó)的懷抱永遠(yuǎn)向我們展開(kāi),祖國(guó)永遠(yuǎn)是我們最堅(jiān)實(shí)的后盾!

Narrator: Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city was to be locked down next week. The host family(寄宿家庭)was in short of food. Mr Green and Mrs Green, the hosts(主人), decided to ask their guests(客人), Student A and Student B, to leave.
Mr Green & Mrs Green: We are sorry, children. You cant stay here anymore.
Students: Is there any other way? We have nowhere to go.
Mr Green & Mrs Green: No, we are really sorry.
Narrator: They went back to the room.
Student A: I cant believe it. How can they do that?
Student B: They have no choice. They have their own lives.
Student A: How terrible! What can we do?
Student B: Maybe we can ask some hotels. Dont worry.
Narrator: But those hotels didnt let young people in. They were disappointed.
Student B: We need to go back to China.
Student A: There are some airline tickets, but too expensive.
Student B: What can we do now?
Narrator: Student As Dad was playing his phone on the sofa. Suddenly, he saw a piece of bad news.
Dad: Oh, my god.
Mum: What happened?
Dad: Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the host families ask the students to move out! Call our son at once.
Mum: How are you, dear? Your Dad saw a report of homestay asking students to move out. Is it true?
Student A: Yes. Mum and Dad, I miss you. I want to go home.
Mum: Dont worry, my dear. Well try our best to help you.
Dad: Protect yourself, OK?
Student A: I know, Dad.
Narrator: To solve the problems of the overseas Chinese students(中國(guó)留學(xué)生), Mrs Liu, the Chinese Ambassador to the United Kingdom(中國(guó)駐英大使), had a meeting with the minister of FCDO(英國(guó)外交大臣), Mr Black.
Mrs Liu: Mr Black, the Chinese students in the UK are in trouble. Chinese government decides to take them back. This is the undertaking(承諾書(shū)) from their parents.
Mr Black: Sorry, I cant agree. It will affect their study.
Mrs Liu: In fact, most host families refuse to accept Chinese students. Its our duty to take them home. We will prepare health packs(健康包) for them.
Mr Black: But there are many risks ...
Narrator: Mrs Liu and Mr Black argued heatedly.
Eventually, they reached an agreement(達(dá)成一致).
Mr Black: Take your children home, Mrs Liu.
Mr Liu: Thank you, Mr Black.
Narrator: The Chinese Embassy in the UK would arrange charter flights(包機(jī)) to bring home Chinese students studying abroad.
Mum: Oh, our son can come back soon.
Dad: Lets call him!
Mum: Good news, dear! You can come back to China. The Chinese Embassy will arrange charter flights.
Student A: Great! Mum, I cant wait to see you.
Mum: I miss you so much, dear.
Student A: Me too, Mum.
Dad: My dear, you should follow the instructions and protect yourself as well as you can. We are always here.
Student A: Dont worry, Dad. Ill take care of myself.
Narrator: Thousands of parents waited for their children in the airport. Eventually, the plane landed safely. They felt very lucky to be protected by their motherland. Maybe it cannot take you anywhere in the world, but it can take you home from anywhere.
