On May 27, the opening ceremony for a series of events organized by China as the Guest of Honor at the 40th Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF) was held at the World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. This is the first time China has been chosen as the Guest of Honor at an international book fair in an ASEAN country. China carefully prepared over 3,000 types and tens of thousands of high-quality books for exhibition, with more than 150 publishers from over 30 publishing units participating in this year’s KLIBF.
During the event, China and Malaysia jointly organized over 30 cultural exchange activities, including the China-ASEAN Civilization Exchange and Cooperation Forum, the China Theme Book Copyright Export Signing Ceremony, and the China-ASEAN Publishing and Printing Exchange and Cooperation Forum. Prominent Chinese writers and scholars will have close interactions with Malaysian readers.
The Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair was established in 1981 and is a significant cultural event in Malaysia. This year’s KLIBF was launched on May 26 and will last ten days.
