The sun is bright,—the air is clear,

The darting swallows soar and sing.

And from the stately elms I hear

The bluebird prophesying Spring.

So blue you winding river flows,

It seems an outlet from the sky,

Where waiting till the west-wind blows,

The freighted clouds at anchor lie.

All things are new;—the buds,the leaves,

That gild the elm-tree's nodding crest,

And even the nest beneath the eaves;—

There are no birds in last year's nest!

All things rejoice in youth and love,

The fullness of their first delight!

And learn from the soft heavens above

The melting tenderness of night.

Maiden,that read'st this simple rhyme,

Enjoy thy youth,it will not stay;

Enjoy the fragrance of thy prime,

For oh,it is not always May!

陽(yáng)光明媚，空氣清新，

輕捷的燕子在飛來(lái)飛去地啼叫。

從那參天榆木的繁茂枝葉中，

我聽(tīng)到了知更鳥(niǎo)在預(yù)報(bào)春天的到來(lái)。

遠(yuǎn)處蜿蜒流淌的河流那么湛藍(lán)，

就像這河水原是從天上瀉來(lái)，

望天上，在冬天的西風(fēng)吹來(lái)之前，

載著水珠的云彩總在靜靜地休憩。

萬(wàn)象在更新；新頂出的嫩芽、嫩葉，

把榆樹(shù)搖曳的枝梢著上一層金黃，

就連屋檐下的鳥(niǎo)巢也是新筑的；

去年的舊巢里已經(jīng)不再有鳥(niǎo)兒歌唱！

自然萬(wàn)物都沉浸在青春和愛(ài)的歡樂(lè)中，

這是生機(jī)盎然的新到來(lái)的歡樂(lè)！

他們白天享有明朗和暖的天空

晚上又沐浴著溫馨柔和的夜色。

姑娘，當(dāng)你讀到這樸素的詩(shī)行，

你當(dāng)盡享你的青春，因?yàn)樗粫?huì)停留；

你要盡享你美麗年華的芬芳，

亨利·沃茲沃思·朗費(fèi)羅（Henry Wadsworth Longfellow，1807—1882），美國(guó)詩(shī)人，生于緬因州波特蘭城的一個(gè)律師家庭。1839年，他的第一部詩(shī)集《夜吟》和浪漫主義小說(shuō)《許珀里翁》出版，1841年，《歌謠及其他》出版，從此他在詩(shī)壇的地位確立了。
