On September 6， the Celebration of the Fifth Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and El Salvador was held in Chongqing. H.E. Daniel Ernesto Méndez Cabrera， Secretary of Innovation of Presidency of the Republic of El Salvador， attended the ceremony. H.E. Aldo F. álvarez， Ambassador of El Salvador to China， H.E. Qiu Xiaoqi， Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs， and Zhang Guozhi， Vice Mayor of Chongqing Municipal Government， addressed the event.

H.E. Ambassador Aldo F. álvarez noted that the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chongqing Municipal Government has been a long-standing friend of the Embassy of EI Salvador in China， and he expressed gratitude to the Chongqing Municipal Government for organizing this marvelous event. This year marks the fifth year of China-El Salvador diplomatic relations and is crucial for deepening the friendship and partnership between both countries. Since President Nayib Bukele’s visit to China in 2019， the bilateral cooperation has flourished. Both sides should further deepen communication by intensifying mutual understanding， mutual trust， and mutual support on the issues of each other’s core interests and major concerns to strengthen the foundations of bilateral relations. H.E. Ambassador Aldo F. álvarez stated that developing a strategic partnership between the two countries is a milestone for the two peoples. He believed that the beneficial cooperation will continue to expand， the political trust will continue to grow， and the friendship between China and EI Salvador will continue to blossom.

H.E. Special Representative Qiu Xiaoqi extended warm congratulations on the fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries on behalf of the Chinese government. Over the past five years， the friendship between China and El Salvador has grown with vitality under the personal care and guidance of the heads of state of the two countries. Qiu Xiaoqi recalled the meeting with President Bukele during his visit to EI Salvador last year， which made him feel the profound political trust between the two countries. He mentioned a series of vivid examples of China-EI Salvador brotherhood， such as the China-assisted construction projects of the Port of La Libertad and the National Library， and the emergency assistance of food and fertilizers to El Salvador from China at the end of last year. In recent years， China has made continuous breakthroughs in sci-tech innovation. A number of large-scale cities， including Chongqing， are striving to be sci-tech innovation forerunners. China adopts an open， inclusive， mutually beneficial， and shared strategy for international cooperation in science and technology and is willing to deepen exchanges and cooperation with El Salvador to achieve common progress.

Zhang Guozhi warmly welcomed the delegation， led by H.E. Special Representative Qiu Xiaoqi and H.E. Secretary Daniel Ernesto Méndez Cabrera， to Chongqing. Chongqing has actively integrated itself into the cooperation and exchanges between China and El Salvador and engaged in practical cooperation in various fields， including economy， trade， culture， and people-to-people exchanges. H.E. Ambassador Aldo F. álvarez has visited Chongqing three times this year. He cares about and facilitates exchanges and cooperation between El Salvador and Chongqing in person and actively promotes Chongqing and San Salvador， the capital of El Salvador， to establish a sister city relationship. Chongqing， as the only centrally-administered municipality in Central and Western China and a National Key City， stands ready to deepen and enrich exchanges and cooperation with El Salvador in various fields， such as economy， trade， culture， people-to-people exchanges， and education， and jointly bring our bilateral practical cooperation to a new height.

Attending the celebration were 80 persons， including Wang Wen， Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chongqing Municipal Government， Chen Peiyan， Level-II Inspector of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce， Jiang Weining， Level-I Inspector of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development， Xie Dong， District Mayor of the Yuzhong District People’s Government， representatives from foreign consulates-general and chambers of commerce in Chongqing， and heads of Sichuan International Studies University， Chongqing Jiaotong University， and relevant companies.
