A new enchanting attraction hasemerged along the banks of West Lake inHangzhou， Zhejiang Province. There， aman and a woman dressed in traditionalgarments， seemingly transported from ancientChina， kindly offer flowers free ofcharge， presenting an attractive glimpseinto the past.

The man， dressed like a man in theTang Dynasty， carries a bamboo poleadorned with a basket filled with buddinglotus flowers. At the other end， an umbrella，lantern and a box for carrying variouskinds of goods dangle （ 懸擺） gracefully.The woman， dressed in the style ofthe Song Dynasty， holds a delicate bamboofan， gracefully wafting it to and fro. A basketfull of lotus flowers is decoratively positionedon her back. Videos and photos featuringthe pair swiftly gained much attractionon social media， receiving praise fromviewers， who found their romantic and classicclothes attractive.

The “Song Dynasty”?woman is actuallyChen Xiyue， a 22 year old vlogger specializingin content featuring hanfu. Shesays，“?It is not I who have gained popularity，but rather the traditional Chinese cultureitself.”

She was inspired by the flower peddlersof the Song Dynasty and wanted tointeract with passers by， by distributinglotus flowers， and bestowing （贈(zèng)予） blessingsof good fortune. She remembers that，several times， she asked children to reciteancient poems in exchange for lotus flowers.“At that moment， I felt the essence ofcultural inheritance—the oral traditiondeeply existing within Chinese people，passed down through generations. It isthrough this process that many remarkabletraditional cultural practices have beenpreserved and transmitted，”?she says.
