beyond是近幾年高考試題中的考查熱點(diǎn)，其用法和含義較為復(fù)雜，現(xiàn)將其常見用法和含義歸納如下：

一、 表示位置，意思為“在（向）……較遠(yuǎn)的一邊；越過……”。例如：

In the distance, beyond the Water Cube is the Birds Nest for the 29th Beijing Olympic Games.在遠(yuǎn)處，水立方的那一邊，是第29屆北京奧運(yùn)會(huì)的場館鳥巢。

Beyond the mountains is the epicenter（震中） of the 5?12 earthquake in Sichuan.越過這些山，就是四川5?12地震的震中。

二、 表示時(shí)間，意思為“晚于、遲于、超過……”，通常用于否定句中。例如：

I think Dream Works latest cartoon movie Kung Fu Panda wont be long enough to last beyond midnight tonight.我想今晚夢工廠的最新動(dòng)畫電影《功夫熊貓》不會(huì)持續(xù)到午夜之后。

2． 作定語

3． 作狀語
