“Hope and anxiety exist simultaneously”is one of the psychological characteristics of cancer patients.The patients are worried about the pain from the disease and the treatment process，and at the same time wish to be cured and prolong their lives after treatment and nursing care.For them，the“psychological support”from the nursing personnel is one of the most effective measures to relieve their anxieties and to promote their hopes.The core of psychological support is comprehension，sympathy，caring，encouragement and to offer the help within our power.From the above episode，we know that Ms.Shen was concerned about the destruction of her self－image because of the potential hair loss caused by chemotherapy.She made the right choice between the health and self－image after being inspired，enlightened，and guided by the nurse.Based on her perceptional changes，the patient became accepting，reestablished herself，and completed the chemotherapy.
