1.Once there was a foolish son in a wealthy family.The flatters always said to him,“You are so clever.”從前,有一位很有錢的公子,很愚蠢。愛拍馬的人總是對他說:“你真聰明!”
2.One day,he saw a notice for cart design competition and signed up.一天,他在街上看到國王發(fā)布的馬車設(shè)計比賽的通知,就報了名。
3.The son never made a cart.He closed his doors to design the imaginary beautiful cart.Soon his cart was finished.He spent much money decorating it.The cart looked very beautiful.公子沒有造過馬車,他就關(guān)著門,在家里設(shè)計他想象中的美麗馬車。他的馬車就做好了,他又花錢來裝飾,馬車看起來非常漂亮。
4.On the day,he asked people to carry the cart.Someone asked him,“Why are you carrying it?”“It is for competition,”the son answered.比賽這天,他找人把馬車抬到比賽現(xiàn)場。有人問:“你的馬車為什么抬著走?”公子說:“這是比賽的馬車。”
5.The competition began.The son’s cart fell into pieces when a horse pulled the cart.The king shouted,“The man is foolish enough to make a cart behind closed doors.”The son fled home.比賽開始了,一匹馬拉了公子的馬車,結(jié)果他的馬車散架了。國王說:“還有這么笨的人,居然閉門造車!”公子灰溜溜地逃回家了。
寓意:“閉門造車”比喻只憑想象做事情,不顧實際,結(jié)果做出愚蠢的事情來。
