One thing about Emma Watson: She has never been arrested[逮捕]. Nor, so far as anyone knows, has she ever eloped[私奔], been kicked off a movie set, or uploaded an angry rant[大聲責(zé)罵] on Twitter. Under normal circumstances[環(huán)境], none of this would be particularly noteworthy[值得注目的]. But Emma, 23, doesnt live under normal circumstances, and she hasnt for a very long time. Instead, the Paris-born, Oxford-raised actress is a self-made young Hollywood success. And more to the point, she is famous thanks to a decision she made when she was only nine (and, of course, the years of hard work that followed).
“I think, in a way, I was very protected during Harry Potter, because I was working all the time,” Emma says. “I would get in the car, go to the studio, and go home,” she says. Whenever possible, she continued to attend school and hang out with her childhood friends.
As a result, Emma explains, it took a long time for her to understand how unusual her existence had become. It wasnt until she enrolled[入學(xué)] at Brown University, in 2009, that she began to realize how famous she was. “It sounds stupid,” she admits, “or completely unbelievable, but that was when I really realized that I was famous. There are still days when I deal with it horribly and there are days when I deal with it really well.” She felt as though everything had been“turned upside down.”
Her experience is indeed a far cry[大不相同的東西] from her latest role: Emma plays Nicki, a famehungry would-be[想要成為的] reality star, in The Bling Ring. The film, written and directed by Sofia Coppola, is based on the true story of a group of teenage burglars[夜賊] who targeted[把……作為目標(biāo)] the homes of Hollywoods celebrities[名人]. It offered Emma the opportunity to take on a completely different kind of character: a party girl whod do almost anything for a taste of the kind of attention Emmas been dealing with for more than a decade. It also gave her the chance to speak the sureto-be-timeless line, “Come on, lets go to Pariss注. I want to rob[搶劫].”

Emma on Filming The Bling Ring:
“We were doing a scene in a nightclub and this girl accidentally put her stiletto[細(xì)高跟鞋] through my toe! And the crazy thing is, I had so much adrenaline[腎上腺素(比喻興奮)] going through my system that I just kept dancing until, finally, I looked down at my foot and saw the blood.”
Emma on Her Early Success:
“I think, in a way, I was very protected during Harry Potter... Its past the point now. Harry Potter was so massive, I dont know if [my other projects] would even touch it, honestly, even make a dent[引起注意].”
Emma on Walking the Red Carpet:
“Every now and again, I feel a bit
wobbly[搖晃的] before hitting a red carpet. So its always nice to bring friends, especially because I love to see their reactions. Its not normal to get out of a car and have, like, 80 people screaming at you, and so when they say, ‘This is crazy, it makes me feel slightly more sane[理智的].” Emma on the Future:
“I wish so badly that I could have a plan. Im someone who likes to be organized and know what shes doing, and this industry just does not permit[允許] that in any shape or form. You never know when a movie is going to start, if its going to get financing[籌集資金], where its going to be.”
