我的“雙重生活”

農(nóng)場(chǎng)工人和樂(lè)隊(duì)歌手，乍一聽(tīng)這兩個(gè)身份怎么也扯不到一塊吧？但如果一個(gè)人同時(shí)身兼此兩職，那會(huì)是怎樣的一種生活？想必很有趣。如果可以兼顧的話(huà)，過(guò)一下“雙重”甚至“多重”的生活，讓自己的人生更豐富多彩，這也未嘗不是一件好事。

I have an interesting 1）dichotomy with my two lifestyles that， you know， complement or become a problem with each other， depending on how you look at it.

The farm was 2）homesteaded in 1854. My brother and I are the fifth generation. We started out with 340 acres， and now were up to around 1，500 acres. The house is still here， was built in 1920， so my older brother and two older sisters， we all were raised here. We milk roughly 200 dairy cattle twice a day.

My job is an interesting one. I guess Im kind of the know-everything-not-good-at-anything， kind of a mechanic and fill in the spots， but mostly do a lot of field work， trying to keep everything running as best as we can.

I am also the band leader of The Jimmies.

“How are you out there？ We are The Jimmies.”

We brilliantly named the band The Jimmies. We thought long and hard on that one.

“Were just gonna do this. Were screwin around here. We hope you like it.”

I play the piano and the 3）Hammond B-3， and do a lot of the singing and song-writing. Music has been in our family forever. My parents met at one of my dads 4）gigs. My mom still sings. We often call ourselves the 5）von Voegling Trapp Singers， you know， and practically want to put on 6）lederhosen sometimes. Ah， thats awkward.

When youre out on a tractor， I always have paper and pen， constantly writing stuff down. Yeah，it is a great place. You can just shut the...shut this everything off in terms of music and kind of put your mind into a different 7）trance.

As expected， they are very much two different worlds. Theyre similar in the pay structure. I am not buying new cars， being a blues musician and a dairy farmer， but， I think both take an enormous amount of dedication and both take an enormous amount of flexibility. Anything could happen on any given day on the farm， and things change by the minute all the time. And the same as goes for live music.

I cant say Ive sung to any cows， no.

我的生活很有意思，因?yàn)樗环譃槎?。兩種截然不同的生活方式是相輔相成還是相互矛盾，就在于你如何看待了。

從1854年開(kāi)始我們家就在這個(gè)農(nóng)場(chǎng)定居下來(lái)，我和我哥已經(jīng)是農(nóng)場(chǎng)上的第五代了。剛開(kāi)始的時(shí)候農(nóng)場(chǎng)只有340英畝，現(xiàn)在增加到了1500英畝左右。我們家的這座房子是1920年建成的，現(xiàn)在還在這里，我和我的哥哥還有兩個(gè)姐姐都是在這兒長(zhǎng)大的。我們每天都要給大約200頭奶牛擠奶，一天兩次。

我的工作挺有趣的。我應(yīng)該是那種什么都會(huì)一點(diǎn)但什么都不精通的人，可以說(shuō)是個(gè)技工吧，哪里有需要我就去哪里，但多數(shù)時(shí)候是在地里干活，盡我們所能讓一切正常運(yùn)轉(zhuǎn)。

我還是吉米樂(lè)隊(duì)的隊(duì)長(zhǎng)。

“朋友們你們好嗎？我們是吉米樂(lè)隊(duì)?！?/p>

我們將樂(lè)隊(duì)命名為吉米樂(lè)隊(duì)。怎樣？很有才吧。這個(gè)名字我們可是絞盡腦汁想了好久才想出來(lái)的。

“下面我們就要唱歌啦，隨便玩玩，希望大家喜歡?！?/p>

我彈奏鋼琴和哈蒙德B-3風(fēng)琴，大部分的歌都是由我創(chuàng)作和演唱的。我們家一直和音樂(lè)緊密相連。我的父母就是在我爸的一次演奏會(huì)上認(rèn)識(shí)的；我媽到現(xiàn)在還在唱歌。我們經(jīng)常自稱(chēng)為von Voegling Trapp Singers，有時(shí)候幾乎還想穿上皮褲。嗯，這挺別扭的。

我在拖拉機(jī)上的時(shí)候，總會(huì)帶著紙和筆，隨時(shí)把有用的東西記錄下來(lái)。那真是個(gè)好地方。你可以把所有的東西都隔絕在外，只剩下音樂(lè)，讓自己沉浸在另一個(gè)世界里。

跟大家想的一樣，這是兩種截然不同的工作。它們?cè)谛匠杲Y(jié)構(gòu)上還是挺接近的，不過(guò)作為一個(gè)布魯斯樂(lè)手和一個(gè)奶場(chǎng)工人，我也不打算買(mǎi)新車(chē)。但我覺(jué)得這兩種工作都需要付出很多努力，而且都需要很大的靈活性。每一天在農(nóng)場(chǎng)上都可能發(fā)生任何事情，情況總是瞬息萬(wàn)變?，F(xiàn)場(chǎng)演唱也是這樣。

我可沒(méi)有給奶牛唱過(guò)歌，才不會(huì)哩。
