The Old Man and the Cat老頭與貓

1. An old man loves his white cat very much and gives it the most delicious food every day. 有個老頭十分喜歡他養(yǎng)的那只白貓，天天給它吃最好的東西。

2. One day， he sees a woman carrying a beautiful yellow cat， thinks that “If I could have a yellow cat...” 這天，老頭看見一婦人抱著一只漂亮的黃貓，心里直癢癢：“要是我也有只黃貓就好了……”

3. Back home， the old man throws the white cat out of the window. 老頭回到家便把白貓從窗口扔出去。

4. The white cat cries sadly at the roadside. A bird flies over and tells it a good idea. 白貓坐在路邊哭得很傷心，鳥兒飛過來告訴它一個好辦法。

5. The white cat finds a laundering1 and dyeing2 shop and jumps into the yellow dye vat3. “Ha ha， Im a yellow cat， too.” 白貓找到一家洗染店，跳進黃染缸后說：“哈哈，我是一只地道的黃貓啦！”

6. “Bang， bang， bang.” The yellow cat knocks at the door. The old man opens the door and sees a yellow cat and then carries it into the house. “I have a beautiful yellow cat.” he says happily. “篤篤篤！”黃貓敲著門，老頭開門一看是只黃貓，于是把它抱進屋，高興道：“我有一只漂亮的黃貓啦！”

7. Every day the yellow cat enjoys good food and listens to the old man talk about the white cats shortcomings4. 黃貓每天享用著好東西，聽著老頭數(shù)落白貓的不足。

8. After a time， the old man looks at the yellow cat but he thinks of a beautiful red cat on the road. 沒過多久，老頭看著黃貓，又想著在路上見到的一只漂亮的紅貓。

9. The yellow cat is thrown out of the window. It goes to the laundering and dyeing shop and rolls in the red dye vat and runs back. 黃貓被老頭從窗口扔出去后，它趕緊跑到洗染店，在紅染缸里打個滾，又跑了回來。

10. The old man carries the red cat in and gives it fish and says it is more beautiful than the yellow cat. 老頭把紅貓抱進屋，給它吃魚，還直夸它比黃貓漂亮。

11. But a week later， the old man gets tired of it. He loves someone elses black cat. 可一星期后，老頭開始討厭紅貓了，因為他看上別人養(yǎng)的一只黑貓。

12. The red cat jumps out of the window by itself. Soon a black cat knocks at the door. 這回沒等老頭動手，紅貓自己從窗口跳了出去。不一會，一只黑貓又敲老頭家的門……

13. The old man gives it small shrimps5 and says， “You know I love black cat， too.” 老頭高興地給黑貓吃蝦米，還說：“你也知道我想要只黑貓呀！”

14. However， after a few days， the old man begins to love his neighbors white cat. The black cat washes himself in the water vat. 然而，幾天后，老頭又看上鄰居家養(yǎng)的那只白貓，黑貓趕緊跳到水缸里

15. The black cat becomes white. The old man recognizes6 it is his favorite white cat. He is ashamed7， “Its my fault. Ive abandoned8 you again and again， but you never dislike me.” 黑貓變成了白貓。老頭終于認出它就是自己曾經(jīng)最喜歡的白貓，很慚愧地說：“都怪我不好，一次次扔掉你，可你從來沒有嫌棄我?！?/p>

感悟：同學們，不要見到別人的東西就認為都是好的，當你回過頭來，會發(fā)現(xiàn)自己擁有的一切也很珍貴。
