《哈利·波特》（Harry Potter）是英國作家J. K.羅琳（J. K. Rowling）于1997～2007年所著的魔幻文學(xué)系列小說，共7部。其中前6部以霍格沃茲魔法學(xué)校（Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry）為主要舞臺，描寫主人公——年輕的巫師學(xué)生哈利·波特在霍格沃茲前后六年的學(xué)習(xí)生活和冒險(xiǎn)故事；第7部描寫的是哈利·波特在第二次巫界大戰(zhàn)中四處尋找魂器并消滅伏地魔的故事。

A ‘real-life Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is set to open in the UK where students can learn spells and ‘encounter magical creatures.

Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex has organised the magical three day event， which is aiming to give muggles the chance to experience what it would be like to be a witch or wizard. Students can enrol from 11th-13th August 2017 when the 15th century castle opens its doors to the public.

The three-day experience aims to recreate the magical school from Harry Potter as closely as possible， so students will be sorted into one of four houses before competing against each other. They will also get to take part in lessons to learn spells， potions and other kinds of witchcraft， and even have the chance to ‘encounter magical creatures （unfortunately just actors in costumes）. All meals are included and theres a big banquet at the end of the stay to celebrate the house that emerges as the winner of three days of competition. The experience is for over 18s only and its not cheap. The three nights will set you back between 440 pounds- 450 pounds.

On the website， the event is described as follows： “Youll stay for 3 days， full board， and be sorted into your house， take part in lessons， attend a banquet， explore the grounds and meet weird and wonderful creatures.” “All of this takes place in our enchanting 15th century castle. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is the British wizarding school， located in the Highlands of Scotland. It takes students from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland， and Ireland.

The castle is located in the mountains near a loch. The precise location of the school could never be uncovered because it was rendered Unplottable. To Muggles the school looks like an old abandoned castle. Similarly， most wizarding schools locations are protected in order to prevent their ways of teaching being revealed， as well as protect the students and schools themselves from any harm.

Established around the 10th century， Hogwarts is considered to be one of the finest magical institutions in the wizarding world， though other notable schools included Beauxbatons Academy of Magic and the Durmstrang Institute. Children with magical abilities are enrolled at birth， and acceptance is confirmed by owl post at age eleven. However， if the child in question is a Muggle-born， a professor from the school would come and inform the childs parents.

The schools motto is Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus， which， translated from Latin， means “Never tickle a sleeping dragon”.
