Never Give up
“Never give up!” I’ve heard this a thousand times, but not until I was taught by these experiences of my life did I realize its true meaning.
I have been learning how to ride the unicycle[獨(dú)輪腳踏車]since I was only six years old. In the year before my learning, I had seen many other students ride a“one wheel cycle” on the playground and perform confidently on the stage. That was so cool! But riding a unicycle was not as easy as expected, since I had to keep my balance on the one wheel. Luckily, when I felt this way, my mom always smiled at me and told me a famous idiom—“If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again!” And she said, “I believe you can overcome the challenge. Don’t give up!” With her encouragement, I made progress quickly. Finally, I could ride the unicycle successfully on my own! It was amazing!
However, it was just the beginning. Later, I began to challenge more, and of course I failed again and again.
One day, I sat on the unicycle and stepped on[踩在……上]the pedal[踏板]with only one foot and the other one on the frame. It was quite demanding[費(fèi)勁的]and I fell off the unicycle and hurt my head. I cried and wanted to stop training. Mom came to me. Instead of giving me a hug, she looked at me and said, “Don’t give up. This experience will accompany[陪伴]you all the time. If you overcome it, you will succeed in the future. After all, experience is the best teacher.” Following her advice, I stood up and got on the unicycle again. After so much pain and frustration[挫折], I could ride the unicycle with only one foot. It turned out to be a very unforgettable experience.
Ever since then, l have always kept in mind my mom’s words. Each time I meet painstaking[艱苦的]tasks, I will encourage myself in her way. Little by little, I have made great progress. When I was in my elementary school, I took part in unicycle racing three times, and got the first place respectively[分別地]. Now I am a middle school student, very busy in schooling, but I will never give up unicycling. And this summer, I am going to enter the National Unicycle Competition.
You see, these experiences about my unicycle life teach me the “never-giveup” spirit.

In The Big Bang Theory, even the genius[天才]Sheldon admitted his failure in unicycle riding. But you accept the challenge and carry it on. Your experience is the best explanation about the “never-give-up” spirit. Thank you for sharing it with us.
