According to the Statistical Analysis Report on the Development of the Chinese Exhibition Industry 2017， released in May 2018 by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce， the scale of Chinas exhibition industry continues to rank first in the world. A total of 5，604 exhibitions （an increase of 1% from 2016） were held in purposely built exhibition venues in 2017， with a total area of 106.42 million square meters （up 12.3% compared with 2016）. The scale of the average monomer exhibition continued to expand. The number of exhibitions above 100，000 square meters accounted for 3% （up 0.3% from 2016）.

In 2017， the total volume of venues in China continued to maintain a steady increase. Some of the large exhibition pavilions were newly built or were just put into use. A total of 211 exhibition venues above 5，000 square meters in operation were 211， of which 23 venues were more than 100，000 square meters.

The operating efficiency of the exhibition enterprises continued to be good， the sales revenue of the entire Chinese exhibitions reached 87.2 billion RMB in 2017， the overall level of the profit rate of the exhibition industry reached 21.6%， 9.7% higher than that of 2016.

From industry distribution， the number of exhibitions in the top ranking came as： consumer goods and residents services， accounting for 31.3%； housing construction， decoration and business services， accounting for 18.4%； industry science and technology， 10.5%； culture， sports and entertainment， 9.7%.

With the further implementation of "The Belt and Road” initiative， the demand of Chinese enterprises interest to open up new markets increases. In 2017， the number of Chinese exhibitors to "The Belt and Road”countries accounted for 26.4% of the total number of Chinese exhibitors to overseas， a a substantial increase compared to 2016. As a platform for expanding foreign cooperation， the exhibitions are playing a more and more important role in promoting trade and investment， and serving the overall diplomatic cause.
