      Analysis of China’s Present Situation and Development Trend of Business English

      【Abstract】With continuously thorough reform and open policy In our country, our countrys economy has developed constantly and unified gradually with the global economic development. Business English plays an important role in the economic and trade, so many relevant talents have been trained. This paper, based on the development of business English in China, analyzes the development trend and development process of Business English in China, and puts forward some suggestions.

      To train professionals who engage in international economic and trade should develop Business English education, which is to follow in the footsteps of Chinas economic development. in recent years, from the prospect of developing trend of Chinas business English, Business English specialty has become a very important major. In order to cater to the development trend of the economy, universities in our country attach importance to the cultivation of professional talents of business English, whether from the view of international economic and trade demand for business English professional talent view, or from the perspective of the specialty of schools, are expected to cultivate all-round talents of business English. This paper analyzes and judges the current situation and future trend of business English in China, as well as the development trend of business English in China in the future.

      I. Overview of Business English

      Business English is commonly referred to business activities in China. The research direction of business English is business activity, which is based on English linguistics. In the late 1970s, we used business English in foreign trade, so another name was foreign trade English. Now gradually globalization of economic development, Chinas foreign economic relations is becoming more and more close, in many ways, such as economy, education, culture, science and technology which have cooperation and exchanges. The design aspects of the business English now is also very wide, not only used in foreign trade business English, but also involved various fields, where English can be used in any external exchanges.

      II. Development background and positioning of business English

      Nowadays, the worlds common language is English. With the continuous development of economic globalization, people pay more and more attention to the use of business English, also want to have a business going for effective economic and trade with other countries. Only relying on English communication is not enough, so business English gradually formed an independent discipline. So do some English native countries. Many colleges and universities have opened a business English discipline and the corresponding tests, such as Cambridge University and Oxford University have launched business English exams. In the United States, Harvard University, Stanford, Berkeley have opened the corresponding business English course. Princeton university has formed a international trade center for the exam system, which seems that business English in todays economy has a very important role in communication. Since China joined the world trade organization, more and more foreign companies come to China to open company. Chinas enterprises do foreign economic exchanges and trade also more and more frequent. As the demand for business English professionals has been growing, there are more and more demand for talent requirements to enterprises, instead of needing single language graduates. In order to adapt to the development of the social and economic market, our country has gradually established business English majors in many colleges and universities.

      III. The development of Chinese Business English

      There is no clear unification of teaching objectives. Departments of education in our country have no clear rules on business English teaching. Lack of the discipline of business English, colleges and universities have no clear meanings, developing conditions, curriculum setting, education purpose, teaching program. The inspection requirements are given no specific provision, which makes different colleges and universities develop different courses according to the different ways of understanding and their own conditions. Insufficient teachers leads to a single English teachers to teach rather than specific professional teachers. As a result, what students learn is just a language, rather than the perspective of business English. This is not professional way to teach the students, which cannot meet the demand of social market.

      Qualified teachers matter. Many colleges now have courses in business English, but there is no professional teachers. Public English teachers bring less Business English knowledge to students. In order to cultivate specialized business English talents, we should strengthen the building of the schools faculty. High quality business English teachers can cultivate high quality business English students. Nowadays, our universities in our country have different level business English teachers. It is necessary to improve the faculty and train highly qualified business English talents at the same time. Neither public English teachers nor Business teachers are suitable to teach Business English courses. Teachers engaged in Business English teaching should have a high quality teaching experience to understand professional knowledge and foreign national etiquette knowledge. The most important thing is to obtain practical management experience. Because of high requirements for the job in business English, talents should be well trained only in this way for national economic development.

      Skill-oriented courses are more. Nowadays, with the development of economy, talents of all kinds are needed for market economy. Single teaching methods should be replaced by diversified and multi-level teaching because of characteristics of business English courses which are interrelated with other subjects. To help students broaden their visions and obtain various information, many colleges and universities have set up business English majors and courses including the vocational schools, undergraduate colleges even key undergraduate universities. The process of teaching not only improves students language skills but also business knowledge so as to cultivate interdisciplinary talents for the society.

      IV. The development trend of Chinese Business English

      1. Strengthen curriculum reform. The overall effect of teaching and the overall goal have a great influence on the curriculum system, which is directly related to the students structure and ability of knowledge and comprehensive quality. While cultivating the exclusive talents, we should also establish the training purpose of business English. The curriculum is mainly based on the training objectives. In the new era of economic globalization, we want to have new understanding of business English training goal, according to a new target to build a new course system, optimize and reform on the existing curriculum and training in general in the international business English talent.

      2. Improve teaching methods. Traditional teaching methods restrict the cultivation of students abilities. Using multimedia technology and modern teaching facilities to reform teaching methods for business English teaching, such as overhead projector, slide projector, computer, Internet, etc. can increase the interest and show the vivid image of business English teaching content to improve the quality of teaching. It can improve students abilities in listening, speaking, reading and writing, and can cultivate students their own independent ability to solve problems in business English.

      3. Strengthen the rationality of training purpose and curriculum setting. In strengthening the training of specialized personnel, traditional English teaching habits can be used at the same time. Teachers take different approaches to mobilize the enthusiasm of students and should use a lot of time to teach professional knowledge, which make students fully understand business English. A variety of different ways of teaching can be used on class which the students as the dominant and teachers in auxiliary way are motivated enthusiasm fully of the students in order to maximize the cultivation of students comprehensive ability. Now curricula in many colleges and universities are not very reasonable, so it is necessary to strengthen the connection between courses. Professional teachers and diversity of curriculum are very helpful to educate students with high comprehensive quality.

      At the same time, the demand for the construction of business English is getting higher and higher. Based on the analysis of business English in China in the future development trend and present situation analysis of our country since Chinas reform and opening-up policy, the further development of foreign trade and the demand for professional has been continuously increased. But, our country business English in the process of development restricted by some objective conditions, we should pay attention to our own conditions to make the correct and reasonable ways of cultivating talents and to improve effectively the quality of the business English professional talents adaptable to the development of the global economy.
