Your time is limited, so dont waste it living someone elses life. Dont let the noise of others opinions drown out your own inner voice.( Steve Jobs )
Everyone knows Steve Jobs. If not, at least we know his products. Steve Jobs was a successful American businessman and inventor. He was the chief executive officer(CEO) and co-founder of the Apple Company. Apples revolutionary1 products, including the iPod, iPhone, iPad and iMac, are now seen as the most popular modern technologies.
Family Background
In 1955, Joanne Schieble and Abdulfattah Jandali, two university students, gave up their son, Steve Jobs, for adoption2. Jobs father, Jandali, was a political science professor, and his mother, Schieble, worked as a speech therapist It was not until Jobs was 27 that he was able to find out information on his birth parents.
As an infant3, Jobs was adopted by Clara and Paul Jobs. Paul was a machinist4. As a boy, Jobs and his father worked on electronics5 in the family garage. Paul showed his son how to separate and re-construct electronics, a hobby that increased the confidence and interest in young Jobs.
A Tough Student
While Jobs was always a smart thinker, his youth was met with frustrations over formal schooling. Jobs didnt behave well in his elementary school until his fourthgrade teacher, Hill, helped him a lot. Then Jobs skipped fifth-grade and went directly to middle school.
Jobs graduated from Homestead High School, California in 1972, and later enrolled6 at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Lacking direction, he dropped out7 of college after 6 months and spent the next 18 months taking classes that he liked at the school. Jobs later said many times how one course in calligraphy8 developed his love of typography9, which was surely the foundation to building the Apple Company.
Create Apple
In 1976, when Jobs was just 21, he and his friend Wozniak started Apple Computer in Jobsfamily garage. They decided to revolutionize10 the computer industry with Apple by improving the technology and making machines smaller, cheaper, more creative and accessible to11 everyday consumers.
He invented and designed the following products: Apple Lisa in 1980, Macintosh in 1984, NeXT Computer in 1988, iMac in 1998, iTunes player in 2000, iPod in 2001, iPhone in 2007, iPad in 2010. All of those products were among the most popular technological elements in modern world, which greatly influenced peoples daily life.
Fight With Cancer
Steve Jobs dedicated12 his whole life to making Apple the greatest Company in the world. Due to his heavy workload, in 2003, Jobs discovered a tumor13 in his body. Though the tumor was removed in 2004 successfully, it continued to grow. After fighting pancreatic(胰腺的)cancer for nearly a decade14, Steve Jobs died in Palo Alto on October 5, 2011, two months after he gave away the CEO of Apple. He was only 56 years old. In his whole life, Jobs received total 458 patents15 , while 141 of those were received after his death, more than most inventors win during their lifetimes.
