■要點(diǎn)詮釋

一、構(gòu)成形式

過去進(jìn)行時(shí)的構(gòu)成形式是“助動(dòng)詞was/were+動(dòng)詞-ing形式”。例如：

I was sleeping.../You were working...He was crying.../We were listening.../They were playing...

二、時(shí)間狀語

過去進(jìn)行時(shí)的時(shí)間狀語通常有this time yesterday、at eight yesterday morning、at that time、from two to five yesterday afternoon和when I walked in the street等。

三、主要功能

1.表示在過去某一時(shí)刻正在進(jìn)行或發(fā)生的動(dòng)作。例如：

What was she doing at nine o'clock yesterday?昨天晚上九點(diǎn)她在做什么？

2.表示在過去某一段時(shí)間內(nèi)進(jìn)行或發(fā)生的動(dòng)作。例如：

We were watching TV from seven to nine last night.昨晚七點(diǎn)到九點(diǎn)我們正在看電視。

3.表示在過去某時(shí)刻按計(jì)劃、安排將要發(fā)生的動(dòng)作。例如：

He said they were leaving for Beijing this afternoon.他說他們今天下午要去北京。

【特別提醒】

1.know、like、love、agree、want、wish、understand、believe、hear等表示心理活動(dòng)的動(dòng)詞，通常不用過去進(jìn)行時(shí)。

2.在考查過去進(jìn)行時(shí)的單選題中，有時(shí)沒有提供明確的表示過去的時(shí)間狀語，需要我們?cè)谏舷挛闹袑ふ摇鞍岛钡臅r(shí)間狀語。例如：

—Ididn'tsee you here yesterday.Where were you?我昨天在這兒沒見到你。你去哪兒了？

—I was staying at home all day to go over my lessons.我一整天都待在家里復(fù)習(xí)功課。
