Thus， New Mexico has one of the largest Native American populations in the United States. The American government has special policies to protect Native Americans. Native Americans lived there generation after generation， and have kept their unique17 art， culture and lifestyle.

One tenth of the New Mexican population are Native Americans. They can be found everywhere in New Mexico. You can find ancient petroglyphs18 here.
