The King of Animals

The Tiger King is so old. He governs the animal kingdom very well. So he decides to look for a great man to be the new king. The owl， kangaroo and bear all want to be the new king.

The dawn is coming. The animals in the forest are happy again. Look！ Just then， an old tiger becomes sad.

Tiger： I’m getting older. I’m not strong anymore. There are so many animals in the forest. I can’t care about everything well. I must pick a great one to be the new king. But who can？ OK！ Just do it.

Tiger： Hey， Fox！ Come to me！

Fox： Yes， my king. What’s the matter？

Tiger： I want to hold a meeting at nine tomorrow morning. All the animals must come here. You see？

Fox： Yes， my king. Yellow Bird， hurry up！ Give the king’s order to the animals around.

Yellow Bird： Yes， sir！ I can do it very well！

The Tiger King gives the chance to the Owl first. The Owl asks all the animals to work at night and sleep in the daytime. All the animals are tired and unhappy. Then the tiger assigns the kangaroo to be the King of Animals. He asks the animals to jump！

Yellow Bird： Hey！ My friends， come on！ It’s time for meeting.

All： OK， we are coming！

Fox： The king is coming！

Tiger： Good morning， everyone！

All： Good morning， my king！

Tiger： I’m so old. I’m going to choose one of you as the new king.

All： Really？ I also have the opportunity， right？

Tiger： Shh ... Be Quiet！ Each of you can be the king for a week. In the end， the best one will become the new king.

All： Great！ Great！

Tiger： So who is the first one？

All： Me！ Me！ Me！

Owl： Let me try first. I can catch the mice at night.

Bear： My king， let me try. I’m so strong， and I believe I can do

it well.

Kangaroo： My king， let me try. I can jump very far. I’m sure I can.

Monkey： Kangaroo， let’s give a chance to the Owl.

Kangaroo： OK.

Tiger： Owl， it’s your turn. I believe you.

Owl： Yes， my king！

Tiger： You can work together next week.

All： Yes， my king.

Fox： My king， please give orders.

Owl： Can you call me again？

Fox： My king， my dear king！

All： My king， my dear king！

Owl： Great！ I’m the king now！ I’m the king now！

You all have to listen to me.

All： Yes， my king.

Owl： Good. Now all of you should work at night， and rest in the daytime.

All： Ah！

Yellow Bird： Sorry， I have to catch worms in the morning， I often sleep at night.

Rabbit： It’s dark at night. I’m so afraid. I can’t pick mushrooms.

Owl： I’m the king. You must obey me！

All： ... Yes， my king.

Owl： How nice it felt！

Though everyone is unhappy， they have to follow the orders. So， all the animals sleep in the daytime. But when the night comes...

Owl： Get up， get up！ It’s time to work.

Rabbit： It’s dark at night. I’m so scared.

Monkey： Don’t be afraid. I can help you go home.

Yellow Bird： Ouch！

Monkey： What’s the matter， Yellow Bird？

Yellow Bird： I have a headache.

Monkey： Let me help you.

Yellow Bird： Thank you！

At last， the Tiger King finds the monkey is the great one. From then on， the monkey becomes the King of Animals. The Monkey King is kind and helpful. All the animals love him. From then on， the animals in the forest live happily together！
