The rain fell so hard that I wondered if it was pebbles1 instead of rain that fell on my head. I walked faster through the empty streets of New York. I lost in my thoughts and I even didnt notice someone was in front of me.

雨下得很大，我都懷疑落在頭上的會不會是鵝卵石而不是雨。我加快速度穿過紐約空蕩蕩的街道。我走了一下神，甚至沒有注意到前面有個人。

“Im so sorry，” said a vaguely2 familiar voice. I turned around.

“抱歉，”一個隱約熟悉的聲音說道。我轉(zhuǎn)過身。

“S—Sally？” I said， “Is that you？”

“薩——薩莉？”我說，“是你嗎？”

“Seanna？” I nodded， and Sally enthusiastically3 hugged me.

“希娜？”我點點頭，然后薩莉熱情地擁抱了我。

“Seanna！ I missed you so much. How are you？ Hows your job？ Where do you work？”

“希娜！我太想你了。你過得好嗎？工作怎么樣？你在哪里工作？”

“Sally，” I said and looked at her seriously. She read my expression and we went to a nearby coffee shop and ordered some drinks. Actually， Sally did. I didnt have the extra4 money， and if I didnt get a job...

“薩莉，”我說道，然后嚴肅地看著她。她讀懂了我的表情，然后我們?nèi)チ烁浇囊患铱Х鹊瓴Ⅻc了一些喝的。其實是薩莉點的，我沒有多的錢了，如果我找不到工作……

“So，” Sally began， “what has been going on in the last ten years？” My smile disappeared， and I played with my napkin in order to avoid her eyes. However， there had been no one who knew me better.

“那么，”薩莉開口說道，“你這十年都經(jīng)歷了什么？”我的笑容消失了，手里玩弄著餐巾來躲避她的眼睛。然而，沒有人比她更了解我了。

“Is everything okay？” she asked quietly.

“一切都好嗎？”她輕輕地問道。

“I lost my job two months ago，” I said. “I have gone to seven or eight job interviews， but all of them failed. My parents cut me off because of that fight， so I cant ask them for help， and…”

“兩個月前我丟了工作，”我說。“我已經(jīng)去了七八個面試了，但是全都沒有通過。因為那次爭吵，父母斷了我的經(jīng)濟來源，所以我不能向他們求助，而且……”

“Lets make a plan and start over again，” Sally said and pat my hand gently. And then， I followed her. We begged for better luck in this mess that was in my life.

“我們來做個計劃，從頭開始吧?！彼_莉說著輕輕拍了拍我的手背。隨后，我也跟她做了同樣的事。我們祈求在我生活中的這團亂麻里能有點好運。

“Weve done everything we could，” she said happily and placed a few dollars on the table， then we left.

“我們做了所能做的一切，”她開心地說，然后在桌上放了幾美元后，我們就離開了。

“It will come.” After promising to meet her again， I went back home alone. All of a sudden， my phone rang， and I stopped in a doorway to listen. What I heard next nearly made me drop the phone. I got the job. I could start my life again. It was a start， a good start. This news was the best Id got in a long time. Thank you， I said to the only friend who listened to me and offered her help， thank you.

“好運會到來的?！贝饝?yīng)會再次與她見面后，我獨自回家了。突然，我的手機響了，我在一家店的門口停下來接聽了電話。接下來我所聽到的差點讓我的手機掉了下去。我得到了那份工作，我可以重新開始我的生活了。這是一個開始，一個好的開始。這是我這么久以來聽到的最好的消息。謝謝你，我心里對唯一一個在困難的時候傾聽我的心聲、并幫助我的朋友說，謝謝你。
