英文詞典如此定義“中國(guó)特色社會(huì)主義”：

Socialism with Chinese characteristics， meaning socialism adapted to Chinese conditions， is the official ideology of the Communist Party of China， claimed to be based upon scientific socialism. This ideology supports the creation of a socialist market economy dominated by the public sector since China is in the primary stage of socialism.

閱讀英文電子版《習(xí)近平談治國(guó)理政》時(shí)，筆者經(jīng)過統(tǒng)計(jì)發(fā)現(xiàn)，全書有99處使用socialism with Chinese characteristics，47處使用Chinese socialism，2處使用Chinas socialism。在政治文獻(xiàn)中，第一個(gè)為官方推薦使用的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)英文表述，而后兩個(gè)只是根據(jù)使用場(chǎng)合、語用目的所采取的變通表述。

1.原文：堅(jiān)持和發(fā)展中國(guó)特色社會(huì)主義

譯文：uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics

2.原文：中國(guó)特色社會(huì)主義道路，是實(shí)現(xiàn)我國(guó)社會(huì)主義現(xiàn)代化的必由之路。

譯文：The path of Chinese socialism is the only way to achieve Chinas socialist modernization.

3.原文：奪取中國(guó)特色社會(huì)主義的新勝利

譯文：achieve new victories for Chinas socialism

從語言形式考察，政治文獻(xiàn)中能夠開始使用后兩種表述，本身就說明，英文譯者對(duì)于語言的理解更加深入和透徹了。socialism單獨(dú)使用，自然指“社會(huì)主義”，一旦加上形容詞Chinese或所有格Chinas，其義也自然縮小，意謂“中國(guó)的社會(huì)主義”。在“社會(huì)主義”的康莊大道上，“中國(guó)”已至，“特色”寧尚遙迢兮？

“社會(huì)主義”在我國(guó)的實(shí)踐，“中國(guó)特色社會(huì)主義”的提出，一再反駁了丘吉爾關(guān)于社會(huì)主義的謬論：Socialism is a philosophy of failure， the creed of ignorance， and the gospel of envy， its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

作為社會(huì)主義國(guó)家的一分子，我們還是深信馬克思的至理名言：Demo-cracy is the road to socialism. 中國(guó)特色社會(huì)主義自然也不例外。? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?□
