●The Wonder of Wildflowers

○《野花奇跡》

Im not like most of my classmates. At least1 not yet.

My family came to this country when I was five years old， but were so close to becoming citizens now. This means2 we can use Amber3 like everyone else at last. Then I will be as special as the rest of my classmates， who were born here with magic4 already in their veins5. Once I use Amber for the first time， I will be on the inside.

我跟大多數(shù)同學(xué)不一樣，至少現(xiàn)在還沒有變得一樣。

我五歲的時(shí)候，和家人來到這個國家，但我們現(xiàn)在幾乎就快要成為這里的公民了。這意味著我們最終可以像其他人那樣使用“琥珀”了。然后我會跟其他同學(xué)一樣特別，他們在這里一出生血管里就已經(jīng)有了魔法。一旦我開始用“琥珀”，我就是他們中的一員了。

●A Dog on a Diet6

○節(jié)食的小狗

A dog went on a diet. He was three times heavier than normal7 dogs. This was not healthy. He got too much food from his owner8 and then was left at an animal shelter9. A dog lover saved him. She looked at him once， took the fat dog home and put him on a diet. The dog is now doing well. He has just 600 calories10 a day. He swims， walks and exercises every day. He is down to 28 kg， from 40 kg. His new owner is very happy. She said， “Hes just such a nice dog. Its so hard to say no to that face.”
