Lee was born on November 27， 1940， in San Francisco， California. His father was a Hong Kong Cantonese opera3 singer， moved with his wife， and children to the United States in 1939. Lees name， Bruce， was given to him by a nurse4. The future5 star showed up in his first film in 1941 when he was just three months old.

When he grew up， he started to learn kung fu to protect6 himself. In 1953， he started to study kung fu. Later， he moved back to the U.S. to live with family friends in Seattle， Washington. At that time he also learned dance lessons and became a good cha-cha dancer. In 1958 he got the Hong Kong cha-cha championship7. He also found a job teaching Wing Chun， which he learned in Hong Kong.

Bruce Lee died in July 20， 1973， Hong Kong， China， at the age of 32， but his death16 still is a question.
