On the evening of Sept 25， Meng， 49， ar-rivedinShenzhen，greeted bycheersandap-plause from a crowd who held a banner reading“Welcome home， Ms Meng Wanzhou”.Meng'sreturnwasalsowitnessedandwelcomedbyover 400 million people through livestreams， re-ported China Daily.

“As an ordinary Chinese citizen who hassuffered this plight and been stranded overseasfor three years， there was never a moment whenI did not feel the care and warmth of the Party，the motherland and the people，”Meng said up-on her arrival in Shenzhen.

The news of Meng's release has aroused astrongreactionamongChineseinternetusers.Herreturn，madepossibleaftertheChinesegovernment'sunremittingefforts，washailedas a major victory achieved by the Chinese peo-ple， noted Xinhua.

OnDec 1， 2018，Mengwasdetained bythe Canadian police at the request of the US， ac-cused of violating US sanctions against Iran.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chun-ying said that“facts have already fully provedthat this is an incident of political persecutionagainst a Chinese citizen， with the purpose ofsuppressing Chinese high-tech enterprises”.

The charges against Meng are nothing butpure fabrication and what the United States and Canada have done is a typical case of arbitrarydetention， Hua said.

According to a statement issued by one ofthe lawyers who represents Meng， the US sidehaswithdrawnitsextraditionrequest. Mengpleaded not guilty to all charges against her.

Meng's return is a major diplomatic victo-ry for the Chinese government， and it belongsto all Chinese people， said Diao Daming， an as-sociateprofessorofUSstudiesatRenminUniversityofChina. 2018年12月1日，加拿大警方應(yīng)美方要求逮捕中國公民孟晚舟，指控所謂涉嫌違反美國對伊朗的制裁。

外交部發(fā)言人華春瑩表示：“事實早已充分證明，這是一起針對中國公民的政治迫害事件，目的是打壓中國的高技術(shù)企業(yè)?！?/p>

華春瑩表示，對孟晚舟女士所謂“欺詐”的指控純屬捏造。美國、加拿大所作所為是典型的任意拘押。

孟晚舟的一位律師發(fā)表聲明稱：孟晚舟和美國司法部達成了暫緩起訴協(xié)議，加拿大的引渡程序?qū)⒈唤K止。孟女士沒有認(rèn)罪。

中國人民大學(xué)美國研究中心副教授刁大明表示：孟晚舟的回國是中國在新中國外交史和對美關(guān)系史上的一個重大勝利，這勝利屬于全體中國人民。孟晚舟作為一名中國公民，她的回國體現(xiàn)了中國政府長期以來一貫堅持“外交為民”的原則。同時，孟晚舟作為一家企業(yè)高管，她的回國也代表著中國政府堅決保護每一家海外中資企業(yè)的合法權(quán)益。
