It was hot in summer. Some farmers were working hard in the field. A farmer was complaining(抱怨) all the time.
Farmer A: Oh, it’s so hot!
Farmer B: Because it’s summer.
Farmer A: I’m so tired.
Farmer C: Me, too. But we need to work.
Farmer A: I don’t want to work.
Farmer C: No work, no crops(莊稼).
Farmer A: Ah ...
Farmer B: Stop complaining and do your work.
Farmer A: I want a pie from the sky(天上的餡餅).
Farmer C:You are having a daydream!
Farmer A: Hum!
The farmer was unhappy. He walked to a tree and sat down. Look! He was sleeping now.
At this time, some rabbits were running quickly to the field.
Rabbit A: Rabbits! Run quickly!
Rabbit B: Yes! A tiger is running after us.
Rabbit C: I’m afraid!
Rabbit A: Don’t worry!
Rabbit B: We can hide(躲) somewhere.
Rabbit C: Where? Where? Where to hide?
Rabbit A&B: Hey! Look out!
Rabbit C: Oh, no!
A rabbit ran into the tree and fainted.
The farmer was waked up by the noise. He was excited to find a rabbit. Then he caught the rabbit and ran to the other farmers.
Farmer A: Look, guys!
Farmer B: What’s up?
Farmer A: A rabbit! I caught a rabbit!
Farmer B: How did you catch it?
Farmer A: It ran into the tree and died. I didn’t do anything.
Farmer C: Really?
Farmer A:? It’s true!
Farmer C: You are so lucky!
Farmer A:? Haha ... It’s a rabbit from the sky!
Next day, the farmer walked to the field slowly. The other farmers were working in the field.
Farmer A: Good morning.
Farmer B: Good morning? It’s afternoon now! Why do you come so late?
Farmer A: I don’t work anymore.
Farmer C: Why? If you don’t work hard, your crops will die.
Farmer A: I will wait under the tree for more rabbits. Rabbits will be my dinner.
Farmer B: Just in your dreams!
Farmer A: Hum! I will prove(證明) it!
The farmer sat under the tree and waited. Soon he fell asleep.
Crop A: Farmer, farmer, we are thirsty. Please feed us water.
Crop B: Farmer, farmer, we are hungry. Please feed us
manure(肥料).
Crop C: Farmer, farmer, we don’t like the weeds(雜草).
Please help us!
When the farmer woke up, he didn’t see any rabbits.
Farmer A: No rabbit? What a bad day! I’ll come and wait
tomorrow.
The farmer didn’t work in his field anymore, so his crops had withered(枯死).
The other farmers had a big harvest(收獲). They were very happy.
Farmer B: What a big year!
Farmer C: Yes! A big harvest!
Farmer B: Look at my corns. They’re so big.
Farmer C: My pumpkins grow well, too.
Farmer B: How many rabbits did you catch?
Farmer A: Forget it. No more rabbits. I have nothing.
Farmer B: No pain, no gain(不勞則無(wú)獲).
Farmer C: We should create(創(chuàng)造) happy life by our own hands.
Farmer A: Yes, you are right. I won’t be lazy anymore.
