2021年12月3日，連接昆明和萬象、全線采用中國標準的中老鐵路全線開通運營，老撾自此邁入鐵路運輸時代。老撾位于亞洲中南半島的東部，是東南亞唯一的內陸國家，境內山巒起伏，森林密布，動物中大象為多，故老撾有“萬象之都”的美稱，自然風光與獨特的風情令游客流連忘返。

The China-Laos Railway， linking Kunming and Vientiane and adopting Chinese standards， started operation on December 3， 2021. Laos then marched into the era of railway transportation. Laos is located in the east of the Indo-China Peninsula in Asia and is the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia. It enjoys rolling hills and dense forests. As elephants account for the majority of the animals living in the country， it is reputed as the Land of a Million Elephants. The natural landscape and distinctive customs make visitors linger.
