“Chongqing is the best kept secret and the most fantastic center of new dynamics of China. I believe that Chongqing is developing fast as an economic center. For us, developing relations with Chongqing is one of our emphases.”

On July 23, H.E. Jesús Seade Kuri, Ambassador of Mexico to China, expressed his expectations for future cooperation and exchanges in an interview during his participation in the 4Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT). This was the first time that he led a delegation to Chongqing since he assumed the post of ambassador to China in 2021.

Vibrant Chongqing with an Amazing Future

Chongqing, the largest city in China enjoying tremendous dynamics, is one of the most vibrant cities in China. Its economy is also among the top. Thus, we have to put our emphasis on developing relations with Chongqing.

According to H.E. Ambassador Jesús Seade, Mexico and China are developing closer ties in bilateral trade, culture and peopleto-people relations. Both as one of the largest cities in respective countries, Chongqing and Mexico City are building themselves into electronic trade and commerce centers. “So, we have every reason to believe that our friendship will be stronger and stronger.”

7月23日，來(lái)渝參加第四屆中國(guó)西部國(guó)際投資貿(mào)易洽談會(huì)的墨西哥駐華大使施雅德，在接受媒體采訪時(shí)，表達(dá)了對(duì)發(fā)展合作交流的期待。這是施雅德大使2021年就任以來(lái)，首次率團(tuán)到訪重慶。

重慶充滿生機(jī)，未來(lái)可期

重慶是中國(guó)面積最大的城市，這里朝氣蓬勃，是最有活力的城市之一，經(jīng)濟(jì)水平位于中國(guó)城市前列。因此，我們認(rèn)為應(yīng)當(dāng)重點(diǎn)發(fā)展與重慶的關(guān)系。

施雅德大使表示，如今，墨中兩國(guó)貿(mào)易、文化、人文紐帶日益緊密。作為兩國(guó)最大的城市之一，重慶與墨西哥城都在努力建設(shè)成為電子商貿(mào)中心?！耙虼?，我們有充分的理由相信，重慶與墨西哥之間的友好關(guān)系會(huì)越來(lái)越緊密強(qiáng)勁?！?/p>

從大眾熟悉的餐桌文化到城市之間的友好往來(lái)，墨西哥與重慶的關(guān)系，在近年來(lái)持續(xù)互動(dòng)中進(jìn)一步加強(qiáng)。2013年，重慶與墨西哥新萊昂州正式締結(jié)為友好城市；2021年，重慶豐都縣與墨西哥瓜納華托市締結(jié)友好關(guān)系。2021年，重慶對(duì)墨西哥進(jìn)出口總額達(dá)128.48億元，同比增長(zhǎng)6.1%。

“Chilies that Chongqing people love best are originally from Mexico.”

“I tried one snack in Chongqing: the corn cake wrapped with corn leaves. It is also a traditional Mexican cuisine.”

In recent years, from foods to city-to-city friendly exchanges, the relationship between Mexico and Chongqing has been enhanced with more frequent interactions. In 2013, Chongqing and Nuevo Leon of Mexico became sister cities;in 2021, Fengdu County of Chongqing and Guanajuato of Mexico established friendly relations. In 2021, the total imports and exports of Chongqing with Mexico reached RMB12.848 billion, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%.

Mexico - Chongqing’s No.1 Trading Partner in Latin America

“In Latin America, Mexico is the largest trading partner of Chongqing.With developed agriculture, abundant materials and prominent advantages in manufacturing, Mexico is the biggest exporter of manufactured goods in Latin America. Among the total exports, manufacture accounts for 85%. So, we can have cooperation with Chongqing in a wide range of fields.

As the only guest country of honor in the 4WCIFIT, Mexico covers the largest exhibition area in the international exhibition hall. Over 60 representatives from 24 Mexican enterprises in various fields came to Chongqing to attend this event, including auto parts manufacturing, import and export services, etc.

H.E. Ambassador Jesús Seade said that the success of the WCIFIT has been witnessed by all. The WCIFIT is getting better and stronger each year in which substantial cooperation potentials are unveiled. During the WCIFIT, the Chongqing Office of the MEXCHAM was officially inaugurated in Yuzhong District. Mexico is fully engaging in the Chongqing market, hoping to take this opportunity to expand cooperation with Chongqing in various fields

According to the Ambassador, Mexico-Chongqing airlink, the 2direct cargo flight from Mexico to China, is expected to open in this September, which will promote trade connectivity and logistics between two countries.

墨西哥，重慶在拉美地區(qū)最大的貿(mào)易伙伴

作為本次西洽會(huì)唯一的主賓國(guó)，墨西哥國(guó)家館展館面積是整個(gè)國(guó)際館中最大的一個(gè)。共組織了24家企業(yè)、超過(guò)60名企業(yè)代表來(lái)渝參展，涵蓋汽車(chē)零部件制造、進(jìn)出口服務(wù)等不同的企業(yè)類型。

“墨西哥是重慶在拉美地區(qū)最大的貿(mào)易伙伴。墨西哥農(nóng)業(yè)發(fā)達(dá)、物產(chǎn)豐富，制造業(yè)優(yōu)勢(shì)突出，是拉美地區(qū)最大的制造品出口國(guó)家，墨西哥85%的出口產(chǎn)品都是制造產(chǎn)品。因此，與重慶可合作的領(lǐng)域很廣闊?！笔┭诺麓笫贡硎?，西洽會(huì)的成功有目共睹，每一屆西洽會(huì)的質(zhì)量與規(guī)模都得到了提升，從中看到了巨大的合作潛力。

本屆西洽會(huì)期間，中國(guó)墨西哥商會(huì)重慶辦公室在渝中區(qū)正式揭牌，墨西哥正全面參與重慶市場(chǎng)，也希望借此機(jī)會(huì)，拓展與重慶各領(lǐng)域的合作。

“我曾參觀過(guò)長(zhǎng)安汽車(chē)，目前，我們正與長(zhǎng)安汽車(chē)開(kāi)展深入對(duì)話，希望能在墨西哥生產(chǎn)電動(dòng)汽車(chē)。長(zhǎng)安汽車(chē)銷(xiāo)往墨西哥，將會(huì)廣受消費(fèi)者喜愛(ài)，更重要的是在墨西哥直接生產(chǎn)?！?/p>

施雅德大使表示，墨西哥是全球最大的汽車(chē)生產(chǎn)國(guó)之一，每年汽車(chē)產(chǎn)量達(dá)數(shù)百萬(wàn)臺(tái)，同時(shí)供應(yīng)北美地區(qū)。目前，重點(diǎn)發(fā)展電動(dòng)汽車(chē)產(chǎn)業(yè)，有意與重慶在電動(dòng)汽車(chē)領(lǐng)域開(kāi)展深度合作。

據(jù)介紹，墨西哥到中國(guó)的第二條貨運(yùn)直航即墨西哥—重慶航線，有望在今年9月開(kāi)通，將促進(jìn)兩地的商貿(mào)物流融通。

“I once visited CHANG’AN Auto and now we are starting a focused dialogue. We hope that CHANG’AN could produce electric vehicles in Mexico. Their cars will be wellaccepted by Mexican consumers. But more importantly, we want them to be produced in Mexico.”

H.E. Ambassador Jesús Seade said that Mexico is one of the biggest carmakers in the world. Each year, millions of automobiles are produced to meet the needs of itself and North America. Currently, Mexico is redoubling efforts to develop electric vehicles,envisaging to carry out in-depth cooperation with Chongqing in this sector.

China - Mexico’s Partner Across the Pacific Ocea

This year marks the 50anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Mexico.China has been the 2largest trading partner of Mexico. In 2021, the bilateral trade volume increased by 41.9% year-on-year, reaching a record high of USD86.6 billion, over 7,000 folds of that in 1972 when the two countries established the diplomatic ties.

Also, as an economist, H.E. Ambassador Jesús Seade not only knows about Chongqing, but also China. In the 1990s, as a member of the WTO creation team and Deputy Director-General of the WTO, he witnessed China’s accession to the WTO. “One of our key partners in China is Chongqing and Mexico is Chongqing’s partner in Latin America. Therefore, we have to put them together more.”

In fact, H.E. Ambassador Jesús Seade is an important witness of China’s development in the past decades. He comments on China’s economic growth that “China’s economic development has grown a lot and it will grow a lot more.”

H.E. Ambassador Jesús Seade holds that people-to-people exchanges will pave the way for friendship between peoples of the two countries. It serves as the foundation for bilateral relations, the key to greater mutual understanding and cooperation, and an enabler for two-way trade and investment. He hopes that the friendship between Mexico and Chongqing can be enhanced through cultural interactions.

At the end of the interview, H.E. Ambassador Jesús Seade wrote down his best wishes to Chongqing: “Chongqing is vibrant. Chongqing is beautiful. Chongqing has an amazing future! I love Chongqing!”

這是我第一次參加西洽會(huì)，我演講的重點(diǎn)是跨境電子商務(wù)。眾所周知，跨境電商是當(dāng)今許多經(jīng)濟(jì)體經(jīng)濟(jì)增長(zhǎng)的引擎，我認(rèn)為這一領(lǐng)域?qū)τ谥袊?guó)，對(duì)于斯洛伐克、歐盟甚至整個(gè)世界，都是發(fā)展重點(diǎn)。西洽會(huì)這樣的經(jīng)貿(mào)活動(dòng)對(duì)于我們?cè)诤笠咔闀r(shí)代的經(jīng)濟(jì)復(fù)蘇具有重要作用。

This is my first time participating in the WCIFIT. My speech focuses on cross-border e-commerce. As is known to all, cross-border e-commerce serves as the engine of economic growth for many economies today. I believe that this sector is a development priority for China,for the Slovak Republic, for the European Union and even for the whole world. Economic and trade activities, like the WCIFIT, are of vital importance to the economic recovery in the post-COVID era.

WCIFIT is one of the important fairs in 2022 and a crucial international cooperation platform where we can promote the implementation of major projects. The open market of Chongqing will bring economic and trade development opportunities to Ecuador. We would like to invite government and business representatives from Chongqing to participate in the 15China-LAC Business Summit which will be held at the end of this year in Ecuador. The theme of the Summit, “Trends and Opportunities Brought by Cross-Border E-commerce”, resonates with that of China (Chongqing) Cross-border E-commerce Development Summit Forum during the WCIFIT. Since Mauritius participated in the WCIFIT last year for the first time, we have brought our relationship with Southwestern China closer. Mauritius is the firs African country to sign free trade agreement with China. Currently, sugar is the only export to China, but we hope that more products like pineapple and tuna can be added to the list. Chinese tourists put Mauritius into “Five Islands You Must Visit in Your Life”. When the pandemic is over, we warmly welcome Chinese tourists, especially those from Chongqing, to visit Mauritius and try the local food cooked with unique spices.

In terms of investment and trade cooperation, Panama is working on introducing specialty coffee into Chongqing market and exporting agricultural products like beef and pork to China. I believe that Chongqing has provided a good opportunity for Panama companies to enter into the Chinese market. I hope that we can create more cooperation opportunities in the future. I believe that the WCIFIT serves as a great window to exchange ideas with our business partners face to face, for the local people to learn more about Panama, and to adjust and optimize the cooperation between Panama and Chongqing, even between Panama and Western China.

Since Uruguay became the guest of honor during the 2WCIFIT, our trade and cooperation with Western China have increased significantly. In Uruguay, Chongqing mainly makes investments in companies from the railway sector, automobile industry, etc. In recent years,products like wine, beef and mutton from Uruguay have witnessed a notable rise in sales. We hope that as our companies participates in the WCIFIT, Uruguay can increase its exposure in Chongqing and make Uruguay products more popular among Chinese people. Our next step is to work on Uruguay’s legal authorization in horse trading in Chongqing, which will be promoted by our Consulate-General in Chongqing.

今年是菲律賓首次參加西洽會(huì)，在上海菲律賓貿(mào)易投資中心的幫助下，我們組織了5個(gè)在中國(guó)生產(chǎn)的菲律賓品牌參展。去年，菲中從緩慢增長(zhǎng)的商業(yè)關(guān)系中恢復(fù)過(guò)來(lái)，現(xiàn)在正朝著一個(gè)新的上升軌跡前進(jìn)，而西洽會(huì)正是一個(gè)推動(dòng)關(guān)系發(fā)展的完美平臺(tái)。希望通過(guò)此次西洽會(huì)，讓菲中兩國(guó)以及重慶與菲律賓在貿(mào)易和投資方面不斷拓展，變得更加多元。

It is the first time for the Philippines to participate in the WCIFIT. With the help of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC)-Shanghai, we have organized 5 Philippines brands with production in China. The Philippines and China have recovered from a slow-growing business relations last year towards a new spiraling-up trajectory. In this process, the WCIFIT is a perfect platform for our business relationship to develop and prosper. I hope that, with this year’s WCIFIT, the Philippines can continue to expand and diversify the trade and investment with Chongqing and with China.

This is my first time coming to the WCIFIT. I have seen vibrancy everywhere and various international elements with a large number of exhibitors. The WCIFIT will boost economic cooperation between Japan and Chongqing. We have worked with Sakekura Tsukawa (a Japanstyle bar) to display Japanese alcohol in the exhibition area and held a promotion session. In this way, we hope to deepen Chongqing people’s understanding of Japanese alcohol, enhance trade between Japan and Chongqing, and make more Japanese products popular among Chongqing citizens.

For Hungary, the WCIFIT is one of the most important expos throughout the year. On the 3WCIFIT, Hungary, as the guest of honor, organized 50 companies to participate in the event.What’s special this year is that we have brought many brands that have never entered the Chinese market before. Besides the well-known Hungary wine, we have displayed some sports products,recycled products and snack brands. We have also brought Hungarian porcelain brands to the WCIFIT to make their debut in China.
