Books are the ladder of human progress.Among many books,I saw a famous masterpiece of Mark Twain,The Million Pound Bank Note.When it comes to books,we have to talk about the author Mark Twain,born in a poor family of lawyers in the 1830s in America.In order to survive,he worked five or six jobs and saw the serious gap between the rich and poor.His experience laid a solid foundation for his work.

In this book,the main plot is that two rich people bet on a poor man,giving him a million-pounds check to see if he could live for a month in this society.Finally,the young man relying on the value and fame of the millionaire,did not spend a penny and became a real rich man after a month,during which the young man also saved a bankrupt mine owner.In this work,Mark Twain pointed out the absurdity of that era.In this book,when the young man who just got a million pounds wanted to buy clothes,the assistant left him the worst by judgment.When the young man took out the millionpound check,the shop-owner ɡreeted him and offered him the expensive suit for free.In this book,the rich in the luxury carriage crushed a poor child,only giving two gold coins when the child was dead.The poor were angry but in silence.Mark Twain mocked the society of the time in his stories.

In this book,money seems to have become more important than everythinɡ and even life.People are crazy to seek money,but few ɡot.And ultimately the poor suffered a lot.In fact,money itself is not terrible.So terrible is that people are crazy when thirsty for money.Mark Twain ɡave the young man a good ending in the end,but it’s not the reality,which is a warning to us that we shouldn’t let us become the slaves of money.
