受能源價(jià)格上漲的影響,許多歐洲人在冬天通過(guò)調(diào)低暖氣和關(guān)燈來(lái)節(jié)約能源。然而,住在德國(guó)東部菲利德海姆村的130人并非如此。

Europeans prepare for the increase inprices of their energy bills in winter. Manyplan to try to save energy in winter by turningdown the heat and turning off lights, butnot the 130 people who live in the east Germanvillage of Feldheim. The little villagehas been energy selfsufficientfor more than ten years.
Feldheim built a few wind turbines (渦輪機(jī)) to provide it with electricity as an experimentin the 1990s. Then, the village expanded that effort to build a local electrical system, solar panels, batteries, and more turbines.
A biogas factory built to keep pigs warm was enlarged. It pumps hot water through avillagewidecentral heating system. A hydrogen production center is also being built. Now,55 wind turbines can be seen on the farmlands around Feldheim. Locals enjoy some of thelowest electricity and natural gas prices in Germany.
Kathleen Thompson who works for a local educational organization said thatthe villagers can all sleep well at night.“Theyve got no misgivings because the prices arenot going to change, not in the immediate future anyway,”she said.
Thousands of visitors from around the world come to see how Feldheim producesgreen energy. Germany, as a whole, still uses carbonbasedfuel for much of its energyneeds, but the country has invested billions in the growth of renewable energy to reduce itsuse of climatechangingenergy. Even with that investment, carbonbasedfuels and nuclearenergy were responsible for more than half of the countrys total power production in thefirst six months of 2022.
It is a lack of sufficient transmission capacity that often leads to shutdowns atwind parks. Carbonbasedfuel plants then increase their production to provide electricityto factories in the south.
Michael Knape is the mayor of Treuenbrietzen, the city to which Feldheim belongs. He said letting locals participate in and benefit from the project was key to Feldheims success.
The community has approved so many turbines that it makes and exports about 250times more electricity than it uses. Knape admitted that Feldheims effort can not be copiedeverywhere, but he said that such projects can be a big part of a solution.
