Yes. You can chew（咀嚼） on a fresh piece of sugarcane（甘蔗） and enjoy the sweet taste.

Maple syrup（楓糖漿） comes from the sap（汁，液） of maple trees（楓樹）. After boiling（煮） the sap， it thickens（變厚） and is quite sweet.
