解釋：“丟面子”或“丟臉”有“喪失體面”的意思。這個(gè)漢語(yǔ)比喻，被英語(yǔ)接受，譯為 lose face。注意 lose face已成為固定詞組，中間不可以加人稱代詞所有格。

“面子”的第一個(gè)意思是“物體的表層”。英語(yǔ)可以譯為 outside, outer part。如：
