“抬杠”的意思是“無謂地爭辯”。英語譯為 to argue for the sake of arguing, to argue for no reason at all。例如:
1.他在公司里因愛與人抬杠而名聲不好,因此他的同事們都不待見他。He is notorious for being keen on arguing for the sake of arguing with others in his company, so his colleagues all dislike him.
2.這兩個無所事事的閑人找不著更好玩的事情做,就再次開始抬杠來打發(fā)時間。The two idlers found nothing better to do, and once again started arguing with each other for no reason at all to kill the time.
“杠精”的意思是“愛抬杠的人”。英語譯為 a stubbornly argumentative person。例如:3.由于大家都說他是個杠精,因而他周圍沒有人喜歡跟他講話。As everybody says he's a stubbornly argumentative person, so nobody around him likes to talk with him.
4.不管別人說什么,這個杠精總是第一個反駁挑刺,為了反對而反對,并通過與人抬杠來顯示自己的存在感和優(yōu)越感。No matter what others say, the stubbornly argumentative person is always being the first to make a retort and find fault so as to oppose for the sake of opposition, and to show his sense of existence and sense of superiority by way of arguing with others for no reason at all.▲
